Favourite curry from the Indian takeaway

Hi, can Mumsnetters recommend me a good curry to try? I usually have a dhansak or a biriyani. I only like chicken really, not a fan of lamb or pork or prawn. I like medium to spicy (but would have a milder one as also love masala!) and I don't like it to be dry - like a fair amount of sauce. Any suggestions? I'm worried about spending the money and not liking my choice so I tend to play safe! Really fancying one tonight. My pregnancy nausea has abated for a couple of days and I want to make the most of it! X

I love dhansak, & pathia is also cooked with lentils.
Our local does achari, which is with lime pickle but not too hot.
I've noticed that we now get more sauce & less protein to keep the cost down .

I've never known a curry house that does pork !
They always seem to be Bangladeshi Muslim.

I love a good Patia. Out local.also does the most amazing Chicken Saag Balti

MadameSzyszkoBohusz · 06/02/2023 18:37

I love a saag. Only recommended if you like spinach of course!

Yesthatismychildsigh · 06/02/2023 18:38

Rogan josh. I like beef but any meat works, really.

KormA

Lulu1919 · 06/02/2023 18:39

I like passanda

AmillionReasons · 06/02/2023 18:40

Another vote for chicken patia, even better with tikka chicken.

telli · 06/02/2023 18:40

South Indian garlic chilli chicken

Korai/karahi! It's a bit like a jalfrezi and the same level of heat. Delicious.

This. So good!

I had a lamb pasanda for the first time last week and it was bloody lovely, peanutty creamy coconut saucey goodness.

Also like a chicken tikka rogan josh.

Pathia or South Indian Garlic Chilli Chicken for me 😋

mumof31968 · 06/02/2023 18:47

i mainly eat chicken korma but can also eat a mild chicken Bhuna.

SquigglePigs · 06/02/2023 19:05

Jalfrezi, balti and karahi are my favourites. Jalfrezi and karahi have nice quantities of peppers and onions in them which I enjoy.

Saag paneer could be nice for a change too.

SquigglePigs · 06/02/2023 19:05

Oh and I forgot dupiaza - lots of onions!

devildeepbluesea · 06/02/2023 19:06

Totally came on to say Pathia.

or, if they do it, a shakuti. Amazing.

Do-piaza - two onions apparently (sticks head above parapet to be roundly corrected by the Mumsnet massive)

waltzingparrot · 06/02/2023 20:02

I like the one with honey and mango but can't remember the name.

kitsuneghost · 06/02/2023 20:03

Vegetable karahi

BritishDesiGirl · 06/02/2023 20:09

Yeah, I was always told it meant "twice onion". I remember going all in once with dupiaza and onion rice!

Chickenwing2 · 07/02/2023 07:12

Chicken tikka chasni - very mild but delicious

Jomummy1013 · 07/02/2023 21:29

Thank you all - I am gonna work my way through this list. I love Indian so much xx

I've recently discovered paneer.

God I'm craving now!

AmillionReasons · 07/02/2023 22:29

@userxx can you taste the cheese in it or does it just make the sauce nice and creamy? I'm tempted to try this, and also South Indian garlic chilli chicken. I usually go for patia or rogan josh.
