What's your favourite meal / dish / snack which you know is kind of weird /gross but you love it anyway?

I'll go first, mine is tinned chicken curry (any brand will do 😂)mixed with pasta , with grated cheese on top. I don't know why but I just love it!!

No judgement here, so tell me, what's yours??

When I was pregnant I came up with a variation on a 'tuna melt' sandwich that my DH thought was really odd, but he's since tried it and we all love it now 😂

Slice of bread or slightly toasted
Tin of tuna mixed with some Mayo on top
Cheddar cheese on top of that

Grill to melt the cheese

Fry an egg, leaving the yolk still runny

Egg on top of the tuna and cheese and serve with ketchup - yummy!

I also love a crisp sandwich, but I don't think that's quite so odd!

Oh, another toast one - apricot or blackcurrant jam and a banana on toast

Beefy super noodles microwaved in till they are sticky with no liquid. Small tin of drained tuna mixed in. Chilly sauce. In a well buttered soft white roll.

Mammyloveswine · 28/01/2023 23:09

Brown bread, non-brewed condiment (aka chippy vinegar), salt and white pepper...

I agree. Some of these make me feel positively ill.

Tripe cooked in milk with onions

Callixte · 01/04/2023 17:47

Polenta cooked soft with butter and grated cheese - I add a few spoonfuls of pesto or pasta sauce and some fresh ricotta before serving/eating.

These are more "meals for one" than something I'd feed my family, but -

Instant ramen (curry or shrimp/prawn flavour works best) thoroughly drained of water, spice packet added, and then rehydrated with coconut milk. I also sometimes add cashews/peanuts and fresh peppers, chile, green onion, coriander, etc.

Tortillas with a layer of shredded cheese and some chopped pepper, onion, tomato (and canned - or resuscitated dried - black or red beans if you like) zapped in the microwave. (I prefer them a little bit overdone, and I always add hot sauce.)

OMG are you my Father?

Dustyblue · 02/04/2023 15:49

My Dad loves that meal so much. Do you also eat crumbed lambs brains? If so we must be related :)

Glorieta · 05/04/2023 22:55

Not a meal as such but prawn crackers dipped into and crumbled into heinz tomato soup

TulipVictory · 05/04/2023 23:00

Cheese and banana sandwiches (banana thinly sliced) the best!!

Holibobby · 05/04/2023 23:18

May not be the strangest but thick white toast with lots of butter with ham and cucumber on.

Also ham and coleslaw parcels, lay ham out and put coleslaw on the ham then roll up! Game changer :)

Tuna salad cream also tops tuna mayo any day!

Frazzled1502 · 05/04/2023 23:52

Baked beans with chilli seasoning mixed in. On top of rice

tuna, baked beans and salad cream mixed together

Defiantlynot41 · 06/04/2023 00:14

This is the Nigella marmite pasta recipe www.nigella.com/recipes/spaghetti-with-marmite

I also love her marmite sandwich suggestion (cream butter and marmite together, vary the proportions of butter and marmite to suit)

loveliesbleeding1 · 06/04/2023 13:33

Tortilla wrap with beef super noodles and tuna mayo inside.

Baldieheid · 06/04/2023 20:42

Tinned tomato soup with bread torn into it so it soaks up and goes mushy. Literally red, tomato flavoured bread mush. Gorgeous.

Peanut butter and date sandwich.

Peppermint tea with milk. I know, I know. I'm disgusting. Did it by accident once and I liked it.

Shgytfgtf111 · 08/04/2023 16:38

@Baldieheid yeah I do that with tommy soup. So good. Mine is baked beans heated with cooked rice, curry powder and cheese. I absolutely love it and have it a couple of times a week. Yum.

chatelai · 10/04/2023 19:22

Tomato sauce and cheese sandwich. Heinz tomato ketchup and cheddar.

The ham and coleslaw roll above, but with quorn ham. Must be low fat cheap coleslaw.

Tinned sweetcorn. Lots of it, out of the tin.

Cheap tinned rice pudding.

Hot cross buns with crunchy peanut butter.

Tinned macaroni cheese with brown sauce, out of the tin.

Low fat cheap coleslaw by the potful!

Granola with orange juice over it and a sprinkle of salt. no, I'm not pregnant.

The PP mentioning scone with marmite, I salute you!

bellac11 · 10/04/2023 19:35

I think curry and mash is better than curry and rice. I made an aubergine curry the other day with just aubergine, quite a lot of oil, a paste pot and some yoghurt, then mixed with mash to serve, which soaks up the oil

Very comforting

Baldieheid · 10/04/2023 19:36

You've just reminded me - cheese on toast but with tomato ketchup under the cheese. Its lush. A rasher or two of crispy bacon under the cheese is also amazing.

bellac11 · 10/04/2023 19:39

Lots of variations of cheese on toast, sardines on toast with cheese melted on top used to be a favourite of mine

Plus I invented cheese on top of peanut butter, with chilli flakes on top, melted under the grill. Lovely

Alas I dont reallly eat bread any more but I might make the odd exception sometimes for some of these

ArcticBells · 10/04/2023 19:47
