Looking for inspiration! I feel like I'm in a bit of a recipe rut and wondering what other families eat (and everyone actually enjoys).

We are two adults and two primary age DCs (8 & 4)

2 DC same age as yours will always eat:
Roast dinners
Bacon and cabbage
Chicken/beef Fajitas
Shepherds pie
Lasagne
Anything in a tomato based sauce eg today I made a chicken tray bake today.

Nothing special but easy makes that they are guaranteed to eat.

Lkydfju · 17/01/2023 19:18

sausages and mash
roast dinner
lasagne
meatballs and pasta

there are little changes to the above such as one of my DC doesn’t like sauce with meatballs

OldTinHat · 17/01/2023 19:18

Cooking with Emily - Chicken Pesto Pasta. Just google it. It's really easy and the whole family love it. Also you can tweak it with more or less chilli, garlic, chicken, whatever pasta you have etc.

My children will eat the following without moaning (too much):
Sausage casserole (as long as the only vegetables are onions, tinned tomatoes and carrot)
Spaghetti Bolognese
Pasta with cream cheese, bacon and mushroom
Chicken nuggets
Macaroni cheese

Would love them to be more adventurous but sadly bland is their preference

Kim82 · 17/01/2023 19:28

Roast dinner (kids will only eat chicken)
sausage and mash
pizza
spaghetti bolognese
pasta and meatballs
bacon and courgette pasta
sausage pasta
shepherds pie
home made chicken kebab
steak pie
toad in the hole
lasagne
curry
cooked breakfast (but at tea time)
egg and chips
garlic chicken and mash (made with a maggi chicken seasoning bag thing)

That’s about it. I can make slight alterations to other meals to take into account likes/dislikes but the above are the only meals where no changes are needed and all 5 of us will eat them as is.

Puppers · 17/01/2023 19:30

spaghetti bolognese
jacket potatoes with various toppings
roast dinners
fish fillets with roasted veg
Jamie Oliver chicken curry (the one with lentils & spinach)
cottage pie

Fajitas
beef stew

They will eat pretty much anything to be fair but we eat a lot of this kind of stuff.

BudgetBeatrice · 17/01/2023 19:36

Thanks for these. Some we make already but others I hadn't thought of and some we used to make but I'd forgotten about them until I saw them on here! So really useful

Ooh. Forgot to include toad-in-the-hole.

And sometimes I'll make a massive batch of crepes or waffles or something else that shouldn't be dinner but is fun every now and then.

bluechameleon · 18/01/2023 19:24

My family make up is exactly the same as yours. Everyone likes pizza, build your own wraps, pasta (choice of sauce or none), fill your own pittas, build your own kebabs. Basically anything where you can have it very plain or more interesting depending on your tastes.

This is a huge hit in our house-

beatthebudget.com/recipe/chicken-satay-rice-bowls-with-baked-crispy-kale/

Can't remember if this was the exact recipe but if you google for any chicken satay made using peanut butter. It's so easy and makes the most amazing sauce with rice.
