I’ll start - those square, overpriced rock-hard thin tasteless crackers that are everywhere- honestly pointless. Give me a basic cream cracker/Ritz/melt in mouth aldi garlic thingy - anything not rock hard with my cheese please!😀

Dogsinthecradle · 13/12/2022 22:20

Baked beans

Gravy
sprouts
cabbage
turkey
olives
fish fingers
gammon
offal
beetroot

Crikeyalmighty · 13/12/2022 22:21

Sorbet-tasteless ice that sets my teeth on edge

Turkey- horrible- a good quality organic chicken is much nicer

Truffle- I'm mixed on this, can be nice if used in discreet amounts, can be disgusting if overused

Steak- nope, not keen

Lobster- a lot of faff for very little reward!! Prefer a pile of prawns or a good portion if scampi

Oysters- revolting

Montanna15 · 13/12/2022 22:21

.....pigs in blankets!

Ohhhhladz · 13/12/2022 22:24

Fruit belongs in cheese and beer; centuries of Polish people cannot be wrong! I don't think it's posh though. I like wensleydale with cranberries and white stilton with mango & ginger, but my fave is that soft white farmer's cheese rolled up with layers of crushed walnuts and pineapple. Heaven.

My "whyyyyyy???!!!" is avocado fries. They're a huge faff to make, fall apart immediately, and even if they come out perfectly they're still not clearly superior to plain old raw avocado and bog standard potato "fries".

Wait- what?!! Stuffed his socks with them? Why? Whatever for?

For me ice cream. Can't stand it. Yes I've tried your favourite. Yes I know about phish food/ honeycomb/ real vanilla/ and all the other kinds . I just don't like it.

Yes, I need to know this too, @kittenkipping.

I agree with the tea hatred - can’t stand the stuff.

talkingmorenonsense · 13/12/2022 22:27

Goat’s cheese is vile!

Clevs · 13/12/2022 22:28

Baked beans 🤮

hotdiggetydog · 13/12/2022 22:29

Popadoms. They are a tax on the impatient.

"F*ck me remember those poppadoms we had?"

Said no one, ever.

TheHappyDaze · 13/12/2022 22:29

Greenshake · 13/12/2022 20:57

Chicken wings. All that effort for barely anything.

They're so easy! Dip in flour, pour over melted butter, sprinkle with lots of paprika and salt and pepper then bung in the oven! Yum!

dropthevipers · 13/12/2022 22:31

Samphire. Thinks its broccoli with "A" levels but is just green slime.

Tuichi · 13/12/2022 22:32

Butternut squash - back with a vengeance unfortunately. I despair when I see that the vegetarian version of the curry / tacos / whatever is this disgusting stuff.

Sugar-overload desserts - I love chocolate and desserts, but I’m not keen on the genre of desserts that is all about either mashing together as many sweet things as possible or gigantic portions or both. This review actually made me feel quite queasy: confidentials.com/manchester/gooey-bakery-and-cafe-reviewed

I’ll eat most foods. I’m not particularly fussy. But… it’s a big fat no from me to

  • scallops
  • oysters
  • olives
  • pigs in blankets
  • whispa chocolate bars
TheHappyDaze · 13/12/2022 22:34

No to:

Oysters
Kidney beans
Eggs
Marmite
Grapefruits (who decided this was edible?)
White chocolate
Aaaand... ice cream (sorbet is ok)

BelenaConhamHarter · 13/12/2022 22:40

Sourdough bread

Why wouldn't you want your bread to be soft and fluffy and not sour and not lacerating?

It tastes metallic because it's sliced up the roof of my mouth

Tuichi · 13/12/2022 22:40

@TheHappyDaze - no, white chocolate isn’t very nice, and weirdly it’s the only type of chocolate that gets worse the more it costs. I had a craft bar of white chocolate as a Christmas present a few years ago and it was like eating completely solidified butter. Not sweet, in fact no flavour other than vaguely buttery. It was really unpleasant.

lightisnotwhite · 13/12/2022 22:51

Oh yes Falafel is the zenith if overrated food.

Sounds so promising too with its abundance of vowels sounds. You could almost be eating the word itself.
I was expecting a sensation in taste and texture. Unfortunately falafel tastes like a wooden lolly stick after having the lolly but less juicy. In fact utterly dry.

Taramasalata. I like dips, fish and the colour pink. No idea what taramasalata actually is or it’s purpose really. It’s just salty gloop.

MrsTerryPratchett · 13/12/2022 22:59

I love oysters so good

@Greensleevevssnotnose is lying along with many others. You don't really. You don't.

I will concede that even though I can't live without tea and am a grumpy arse if I don't have it, it really is an acquired taste that wouldn't be as loved if it didn't contain caffeine, which makes it a taste worth acquiring.

BedTaker · 13/12/2022 23:02

Biscoff spread - everyone was jizzing over it so I tried it to see what all the fuss was about.......its alright, but its way too sweet and no one likes the actual Biscoffs you get at the hairdressers and in hotels do they?

Nutella all the way.

FuglyBitch · 13/12/2022 23:03

meat, fish, eggs, cheese, dairy

treadcarefully · 13/12/2022 23:13

Mincemeat
Fruit cakes
Christmas pudding
Fruit and nut chocolate
In fact anything with dried fruit in it.

Choccyp1g · 13/12/2022 23:19

Knockagain · 13/12/2022 21:56

Could someone try and explain what truffle tastes like, what it’s similar to or is it totally a taste on its own? Always been curious.

Sick

paintitallover · 13/12/2022 23:24

Those 5 bird roast things. Never had it but let's face it, they're disgusting.

VeryQuaintIrene · 13/12/2022 23:29

Sushi. Yuk.

RosalindsAFuckingNightmare · 13/12/2022 23:55

Mushrooms. They smell, taste and even their texture is revolting.
And goats cheese. Vom.
