Can we make plain ol' lemon and sugar pancakes while we're waiting?

how about Lemon drizzle pancakes? oh yeah!

Twiglett · 01/02/2008 18:02

do you mena like a stack of pancakes stuck together with stuff like chocolate?

sparkybabe · 01/02/2008 18:03

you looking for the sort of 'cake' that is a stack of pancakes sandwiched with cream/bananas/choc sauce? No?

Twiglett · 01/02/2008 18:03

like a banoffee pancake?
pancake
layer of bananas
pancake
toffee (a la condensed cream boiled forever)
pancake
layer of bananas

Twiglett · 01/02/2008 18:04

you'd need pancakes with SR flour not crepes of cours

expatinscotland · 01/02/2008 18:04

god that sounds good, Twig.

i've got a jar of dulce de lece to use up, too, instead of toffee from condensed milk and a bunch of bananas to use up.

MaryAnnSingleton · 01/02/2008 18:05

a maple syrup and bacon layered pancake pile (dribble)
followed by Nutella stuffed pancake rolls and vanilla ice cream

Twiglett · 01/02/2008 18:27

I think the top layer will need whipped cream too

dulce de leche .. ooooo get you

(Have never made this by the way .. but it can't really go wrong can it?)

MarsLady · 01/02/2008 23:19

Thank you! Will begin to experiment tomorrow.

Now... will these Pancake cakes be transportable?

MMMMM

we are having BIG pancakes with chopped banana and choc sauce, rolled up

Sunshinemummy · 05/02/2008 13:10

I usually make a savoury one with fish and spinach in a white sauce. Roll pancakes around mix. Fill roasting dish with rolled pancakes. Top with cheese and bake in oven until hot. It's yummy...

Bellavita · 05/02/2008 13:28

My friend told me today that her children will have pancakes after their tea. I told her mine were having them for their tea with syrup, icecream, dulce de lece and perhaps whipped cream - will throw in some blueberries and raspberries for good measure though. She said so they are getting nothing else? I make the big fluffy american ones so don't feel the need to give them anything before.

Do you give your lo's pancakes for tea or as a dessert?

winniewoo · 05/02/2008 15:20

help...can i make pancakes with sr flour? out of plain!

MarsLady · 05/02/2008 15:40

yes you can make them with s/r flour.

Mine are getting their pancakes for dessert. I'm also making a batch for my antenatal class cos I'm lovely like!

I made dd a cheese, ham and tomato one for tea (never done savoury before - very nice) then a banana and yoghurt one for pudding. DH and I are just having them for pudding with syrup

B1977 · 05/02/2008 20:33

Sunshinemummy, thanks for that fab suggestion. I negotiated with my DCs that we would do pancakes at the weekend (was back v. late last night) on basis that we'd have more time and could make double the amount and they could each take a turn at cooking them. Came on here to see if I could find a "posh" savoury filling to have with DH later on Sat night, and LOVE the idea of fish, white sauce and spinach. DCs will have the annual ham, cheese and tomato followed by banana and chocolate. Tho actually, they'd love the fish filling too. Every pancake day, I ask why I don't make them more often, resolve to do so and here I am a year later asking myself the same thing!

meridian · 06/02/2008 20:23

if i had found this thread earlier I could have given my recipe for maple and pecan muffins... lovely and taste just like pancakes.... oh well.. next year
