I'm disabled and I'm wanting to create my own cookbook for use with other disabled people i m hoping after to create my own website I've got a certificate in cooking and bread making I am after ideas of different type of sandwiches want to help others to make simple meals

Good luck - I hope the ones I've suggested will be useful.

I think that if you want to write a sandwich book, you need to come up with your own sandwich recipes. Or possibly a percentage of the proceeds to people who contribute recipes.

Get a steak & kidney pie, heat as per the instructions, flatten slightly, place between thick slices of well buttered white bread, enjoy. Food of the Gods!

Sandwichfan05 · 03/12/2022 00:38

Tuna mixed with salad cream, spread on thick white bread. Loads of lettuce, English mustard, tartare sauce, loads and loads of salt and pepper, sardines, corned beef, thin slices of pepper and tomato, thick slices of white onions, thick layer of Mayo and finally S&V squares.

lovely

Which disabilities are you hoping to cater for, particularly, with this book of useful and interesting, new sandwich ideas? If we had a better idea of the fillings you were hoping to rank for, we would be better placed to assist.

Crusty white bread, salami, sour cream & onion pringles.

Sandwichfan05 · 03/12/2022 01:09

I'm hoping to teach young and old with learning disabilities how to make their own bread and make simple sandwiches we all need to start somewhere in an easy to read format with pictures does that sound a good idea 💡 😊😊

Making bread and making sandwiches are different challenges. Do you intend to conflate them ?

SiobhanSharpe · 03/12/2022 01:19

The first post in response to the OP reads like it came from the Ladies Home Journal, circa 1976...
But anyways, a recent favourite is a toasted cheese sandwich (made in your usual way) with a layer of kimchi inside. Plus extra hot sauce, but that's just me.

You may need to follow it up with a tab or two of Gaviscon.

Workinghardeveryday · 03/12/2022 01:21

Sorry I really didn’t realise this was a serious thread!

But if it is, apologise - tuna with salad cream on white, no butter and any sort of crisps is my favourite

WeDontNeedToTalkAboutJamie · 03/12/2022 01:23

I've got an old cookery book (DS thinks it's from the 50s, but I thought it was older) which has a whole chapter on sandwiches. I'll have to dig it out and have a look.

Sandwichfan05 · 03/12/2022 01:27

Workinghardeveryday apology accepted and thank you for the tip 😊

Oh no. It was fake . I have heaps of fab sandwich recipes. 😥

Georgyporky · 03/12/2022 10:23

Adding some crispy fried onions from a jar/packet is great - with the possible exception of jam sarnies.

Oh, yes - I was recently introduced to those crispy onions, they're excellent.

BadNomad · 03/12/2022 10:57

Something I learned growing up is that anything can be a sandwich! PotNoodle. Findus Crispy Pancakes. Cheese n onion crisps.

Simple bread recipes would be good. (Irish) wheaten bread is my favourite. It doesn't need kneading. Just mixed then slopped into a bread tin.

Sandwichfan05 · 03/12/2022 14:58

Thanks I'm getting good ideas thanks all to create new sandwiches 😊😊

Cookie cutters make crustless pretty sandwiches. DD used to have little Christmas tree ones in December in her lunch box. She may have been a little spoilt. Heart-shaped ones with a loveheart on them. Cream cheese and cucumber were her favourite.

Fish fingers (hot) on sliced white bread with salted butter, a handful of salt and vinegar crisps and ketchup.

Hot salt beef on rye with mustard and slices of pickled cucumbers.

Christmas sandwiches: turkey replaces bread, one slice spread with cranberry, one slice with bread sauce, crumble some stuffing, slice some sprouts, join together like a sandwich.

Tin of red salmon, pepper, squeeze of lemon, chopped spring onions, Helman's, mash it all together. Spread between buttered brown bread add watercress, cut into triangles. One large tin should do 4 rounds.

Also nice are crustless sandwich fingers: work very well with: smoked salmon, egg mayo and cress, ham and cream cheese, cream cheese and cucumber- very dainty and moreish.

Proper club sandwiches with turkey, bacon, tomato slices and lettuce (three slices of bread - lightly toasted)
