What to do with pork mince

I managed to get a couple of packs of pork mince with 75% off at Aldi. It’s not something I normally buy, but they were a bargain, so picked them up for the freezer, but I don’t know what to do with them. I could substitute it for beef and do a lasagne, bolognaise or cottage pie type thing but I wondered if anyone had a recipe for something different that might be good to try?

You could make the mince into patties and have them with fried eggs in a muffin/roll for breakfast, like a McMuffin 👍🏼 we did this last Sunday and added a cheese slice too, so nice!

Use at 50:50 with beef mince in a lasagna or spaghetti. It's delicious.

Pork mince is either a chilli (lighter and ‘fresher’ than beef), keema curry or meatloaf here.

This is delicious. There are some specialist ingredients but if you scroll down to the end there are substitutions which is what I use.

SeaToSki · 14/09/2022 22:41

Frikadellers and just use all pork.

Meatloaf - fry onion then squash in a bowl with mince , an egg, breadcrumbs and feta. Make into a sausage shape
and
bake

ShockedConfused1980 · 14/09/2022 22:42

I make kebabs like a patty add a whole load of spices or make keema

Sorry, should have said what it is instead of just posting a link - it's Chinese pork with noodles, a kind of Chinese spaghetti bolognaise. I buy pork mince specially now!

We do this too and they're lovely - and they freeze well. Add some herbs

danish pork meatballs (aka frikadeller) are great. if you are wanting to save money & make your food go further, you can add quite a lot of breadcrumbs to the recipe to bulk it out. and freeze the ones you don't cook immediately - wrap in greaseproof paper & then place in a plastic bag & freeze.

BellaBoo20 · 14/09/2022 22:43

I use for ragu but just add beef oxo cubes xx

Pork mince goes well with cabbage and can take a lot of spices. A couple of easy crowd pleasers:

Itsu have a delicious recipe for pork and noodles we have often. Really good and quick too.

snowstorm2012 · 14/09/2022 22:45

@jesusjoan yes we freeze them too, they're a nice weekend treat 😃

gingercat02 · 14/09/2022 22:49

This is great. It's known as stinky pork in our house (because of the fish sauce) www.recipetineats.com/vietnamese-caramelised-pork-bowls/

Lotsofpots · 14/09/2022 22:49

We make this and it is one of our absolute favourite meals. Ones of the few Thai dishes that when we make it actually tastes as good as it does in a restaurant:

Orzotto.
It is very filling. You can freeze any excess.

BBC Good Food has a whole section on pork mince.

Crazykefir · 14/09/2022 22:54

I'd make meatballs with random spices from the cupboard.

Longdistance · 14/09/2022 22:59

Meatballs
Hungarian fasirt
Chilli

Pork Yuk Sung, big favourite in this house! Pork mince with soy sauce in a lettuce cup, lots of recipes online. Lovely, different and the lettuce cups make it very light.

academicyeah · 14/09/2022 23:03

San choy bau

DeathMetalMum · 14/09/2022 23:05

RJnomore1 · 14/09/2022 23:05

Pork larb!

MarmiteCoriander · 14/09/2022 23:10

Agree with others, I'd use it for sung choi boa with lettuce leaves or Thai Larb Namtok. (Thai pork mince salad)
