Just that really. DP is out tonight. I fancy making myself a nice dinner with a glass of wine in front of the TV after the baby is in bed. What would you make?

@karmakameleon - my middle son loves it, so I make for us two when he's home from uni. The rest of them hate it, the weirdos.

Some kind of pan fried fish with an olive tapenade like below:

www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/bakedfishwithgreenol_72460

or take out Sushi!

NiqueNique · 21/07/2022 14:06

I always give the same answer on these threads:

A half crispy Peking duck with pancakes and all the trimmings, all to myself! Washed down with a few glasses of white/rosé or something bubbly.

mrsm43s · 21/07/2022 14:08

I'd do a fillet steak (rare), with grilled tomato, mushrooms and green salad.

Takes v little cooking, and since it would be only me, very affordable for a decent bit of steak.

Pesto pasta with cherry tomatoes, rocket, tender-stem broccoli and heaps of fresh garlic, served with a huge glass of a Marlborough Sauvignon…delicious!!

elephantbreathing · 21/07/2022 14:15

Risotto with garlic butter cooked prawns and a green salad. Very cold Rosé.

A nice pizza from the counter at Asda or (more likely) fish and chips from the chippy!

purplecorkheart · 21/07/2022 14:17

I must confess I am very lazy when I am on my own and get a chicken dish from M&S and the skinny fries they do. Stick them into the oven and enjoy a glass of icy rose and the tv to myself.

Whenever my husband is out or we have separate meals I always have angel hair spaghetti (like you have abroad) with quartered baby plum tomatoes, St Agur cheese, basil, pine nuts, chilli and garlic stirred through so the cheese melts with lots of salt and pepper!

ODFOx · 21/07/2022 14:24

Mussels steamed with garlic and white wine.
A steak sandwich with crusty bread and loads of horseradish.
Eggs Benedict with real hollandaise.
Poached eggs with griddled asparagus.
A bowl of steamed Bok Choi and Choi sum with a splash of fish sauce, sesame oil and a handful of toasted peanuts or cashews.
Any of the above, depending on availability of ingredients and mood.

You're all amazing.

If I'm on my own I tend to eat a bag of crisps for tea.

I'm the same!!

Sometimes I top it up with a couple of slices of ham and a Babybel!! 😂

saveforthat · 21/07/2022 14:34

Just order a takeaway

felulageller · 21/07/2022 14:34

Yeah these answers are astounding me!

I just put a pizza in the oven.

lickenchugget · 21/07/2022 14:38

King prawn linguine - put the pasta on, melt some butter and oil in a frying pan, add some garlic, the prawns, salt and pepper. Stir into the cooked pasta with a few spoons of the pasta water, sprinkle in some Parmesan, (don’t tell the Italians!), and some parsley and a squeeze of lemon on top. Quick and delicious, serve with some extra cold white wine

Same! I’ll probably add a bit of toast and a yogurt if I’m feeling flash!

RockinHorseShit · 21/07/2022 14:54

Gnocchi with a tomato & Gorgonzola sauce & a good side salad with spinach, rocket, avocado etc. Everyone else in the house hates gnocchi & I love it. So that usually my go to when alone

BeastOfBODMAS · 21/07/2022 15:00

Mash! DH hates mash. Absolutely piles of it with wholegrain mustard and crispy onions and butter in. Thick gravy on top. Sausages and leeks with it but not the main event

nca · 21/07/2022 15:13

Mars bar, bag of crisps, and a can of cider.

AlisonDonut · 21/07/2022 15:17

I like to make myself a lovely macaroni cheese with fresh tomatoes and Tabasco on top and popped under the grill to crisp up the added cheese I grate over the whole goddam dish.

undecided112 · 21/07/2022 15:35

Delicious!! I can't say I decided on anything adventurous .. I went to sainsburys and got a packet of La Famiglia Rana filled pasta with a bottle of Pinot Grigio to wash it down!

Whenever DH is out I do baked salmon fillets in soy and garlic with noodles and broccoli (in more soy, garlic, chilli and lime- sometimes 5 spice). DH doesn’t like fish so it’s my chance to indulge.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 21/07/2022 15:58

I think I'd just have crackers with cheese and patê and maybe some olives. Plus a couple of glasses of cold white wine. It'd be nice to have a night off cooking!

Tinybathroomideas · 21/07/2022 16:16

Depends how I’m feeling -

If I feel like cooking it’ll be this spicy pasta recipe 🤤 sometimes without the chicken and with other veg added just depending what’s in the fridge 😊

Most likely it’s either a takeaway or a picky plate of whatever is in the fridge that ends up looking like a toddlers lunch 🤣 bit of ham, babybel, veggies & hummus, some bread & butter.

All washed down with some wine and crisps or chocolate 🤣

MrsKippling · 21/07/2022 18:51

A spicy chicken ramen bowl with shop bought gyoza. Quick and easy and something I only ever eat alone on the sofa where no one can see my slurping away attractively 😂
