Thermomix Owners - tips / recipes

I know there are threads with opinions on Thermomixers; and I know they are very marmite kitchen gadgets! I thought rather than a thread about how ridiculously expensive they are, or wonderful (depending on your view) I’d love to know what tips or recipes you recommend if you own one.

I have just joined the cult of Thermomix and am waiting for delivery would love to find out whose also a member 😅 and how you use it.

I have a Tefal Cuisine Companion which apparently is very similar, the recipes can be used. I have had it for years and love it but really need to get to grips with more of what it can do.

I saw that someone upthread said to look at the Australian Thermomix site. It's also in Australia that the CCs are popular. How odd.

Anyway, I'll be keeping an eye on here to see what suggestions are made. There is a great FB page (I think she also has her own site) called Shine with your Cuisine Companion that you might want to look at. Some of the recipes are Thermomix ones.

Here a few recipes to get you started:
Best chocolate cake full of fibre, very light and you absolutely cannot taste the beans.
Butter Chicken this recipe is better than the one in the TM recipe book.

This is literally the BEST butter chicken ever!

I love so many of the skinnymixer recipes and her Facebook group is a fantastic place for inspiration.

I'm feeling overwhelmed by the choice and have a massive brain block on what to make this week!

If you're on Facebook look up Skinnymixers and Thermobexta - both have great groups where recipes are discussed etc. Heartily recommend all the books from both.

I’m so pleased this thread is still going and I’m going to try the butter chicken soon. I don’t have the star anise etc yet!

We made a good shepherds pie (the mash goes a bit of a weird texture when whisked but it was easy )and also homemade pizza even though we have a bread maker too!

I am going to ask for a Thermomix cook book for Christmas and quite often I get lost in cookidoo and can’t work out how to get my recipe in English (or French or Spanish, but I can’t understand a word of anything else!)

Welshrarebitontoast · 12/09/2022 21:24

Chicken cacciatore yesterday was fab!

Welshrarebitontoast · 21/09/2022 06:51

@ChickpeaFlour have you tried the butter chicken yet?

I have made it a few times. I also made a sweet potato and spinach curry over the weekend and it was delicious.

Last night I made orzo with chicken and pesto tonight I’m trying chilli con carne. I have used my Thermomix every day since it arrived, and am more confident in using it now.

Still at the novelty stage though I guess as (other than butter chicken) I’m still making things once to try and then finding something else to try. My only real concern is that I always feel like there’s a lot of sauce - which I appreciate is because of how the cooking works. Also I generally only cook for 3 people and even when I filter the recipes for 4 servings I find they are very large (not that leftovers are a problem).

sorry for slow reply- no I still haven’t S’s I’ve tried 3 supermarkets for ghee and all been sold out / out of stock ! But mind you everything with me is a bit slow and disorganised at moment (young baby ).

i did have a lovely demo on zoom where everyone put their favourites in the chat and I can try and mention some of them when find my list ! It was really nice as there were loads I hadn’t come across on Cookidoo yet

There is a recipe for ghee on cookidoo but you really don't need it - I tend to just use butter as I'm lazy and results are pretty similar

rifling · 25/09/2022 07:39

I tried the butter chicken recently and was a bit underwhelmed. There's a lot of sauce and it's all a bit sweet for my taste.

incognitodorrito · 26/09/2022 07:26

Re the ghee, I’m the same - I tend to just use butter when it’s needed. Here’s another really nice soup recipe from dani valent, all that is needed is a stick cube, tin of tomatoes and lentils.

incognitodorrito · 26/09/2022 07:26

would help if I included the recipe

rifling · 28/11/2022 11:30

Did you get your Thermomix in the end @Welshrarebit75 ? Has anyone got and uses the cook-key? I bought my Thermomix before they brought these out and am wondering if it is useful or not? Do you have to have an active subscription to use it? Feeling a bit jaded with recipes and it might be nice to have a new selection!

FairlyIncognito · 28/11/2022 20:28

What is a cook-key?
I agree I’m a bit bored by the recipes though my thermomix advisor thinks I’m being silly (she’s a good friend) as there are so many . But so many have low ratings and I’ve over used the ones we did like - does anything try the low rated ones anyway ? and I prefer a lot of recipes in my own cook books but don’t know how to transfer them to the thermomix .
i did make the butter chicken in the end and it turned out quite good and with too much sauce! So we are the sauce with leftover broccoli .
I would like to get more confident with ours as I am less on top of cooking for our family of 5 (with a baby) that I thought I would be and have just signed up to frozen meals from Cook to give me a break! Which was not the plan when we’ve spent so much on it!
I do manage to make baby food but to br honest I often find our nutribullet quicker / easier to clean

rifling · 29/11/2022 13:45

The cook key is a way to connect your Thermomix to the Internet and download recipes directly so they "play" on the Thermomix like the ones on the digital recipe discs. I'm hoping it will encourage my kids to cook for me. 😆

FairlyIncognito · 02/12/2022 17:13

ah ours cook endlessly on ours! They’ve worked out also that doing so provides them with puddings or custard to pour on fruit when I haven’t made one!
