Is it like dream topping?

https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/277063823

The ingredients look amazing Grin

Brawoe1 · 24/04/2022 17:27

Not sure… isn’t that stuff quite runny?

It's an abomination and not for for human consumption. But if you must I'd say dream topping would be about the closest.

carefullycourageous · 24/04/2022 17:29

Oh wow, had forgotten all about dream topping until I saw that!

Love how they are trying to outrank real cream with the phrase It stays firm after whipping unlike cream

QuebecBagnet · 24/04/2022 17:29

Birds dream whip?

Brawoe1 · 24/04/2022 17:29

@Quizanory it’s for Baileys’s cheesecake cups…?!

OP posts:
Brawoe1 · 24/04/2022 17:30

Recipe says: Make Baileys filling: In a medium bowl using a hand mixer, beat together cream cheese, melted chocolate, and Baileys until smooth. Gently fold in Cool Whip.

but I’m not sure what to substitute it for?

Would it be something like this?
www.thomasridley.co.uk/roselle-topping-mix-powder-48210u.html?CAWELAID=120291440000002502&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIp_XZzo-t9wIVTLTtCh34BgMJEAQYASABEgLRkfD_BwE
(I do hope not, we used to get this at school and it wasn't very nice at all... but it did stay weirdly firm...)

SiobhanSharpe · 24/04/2022 17:36

I think I'd just use whipped double cream. It will be sweet enough even without the sweetened Cool Whip. (But you could always add some sugar while whipping the cream anyway, if you like.)
i think British double cream stays firmer than US stuff because the butterfat contents differ. Ours is higher, I think.

Georgyporky · 24/04/2022 17:36

Seems a shame to add this to Baileys:-
water, hydrogenated vegetable oil (including coconut and palm kernel oils), high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup, skimmed milk, light cream (less than 2%), sodium caseinate, natural and artificial flavor, xanthan and guar gums, polysorbate 60, sorbitan monostearate, sodium polyphosphate, and beta carotene (as a colouring).

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 24/04/2022 17:38

I'd use lightly whipped double cream, sounds yum!

pastabest · 24/04/2022 17:42

I'd use marscapone personally rather than whipping cream.

I'd definitely not use whatever cool whip is!

Seconded. It not anything you'd want to eat, and you're definitely NOT missing out. Envy

Brawoe1 · 24/04/2022 17:52

@Georgyporky im not adding that to baileys though am I….

OP posts:
Brawoe1 · 24/04/2022 17:54

Thanks everyone I’ll use the double cream

I'm not sure but it did remind me of the big question about how much emphasis to put on the "h" of "whip"...Family Guy - All cool whip moments - YouTube

Soffit · 24/04/2022 18:04

All that palm oil đź’©

backtobusy · 24/04/2022 18:05

It really is disgusting, going with double cream is a good idea.

QuebecBagnet · 24/04/2022 19:01

I’d use mascapone over cream I think. Thicker consistency.

CottonSock · 24/04/2022 19:02

I'd use cream cheese

MrsTerryPratchett · 24/04/2022 19:13

Cool Whip. Vilest substance ever.

JurasicPerks · 24/04/2022 19:22

Whipped cream, or a 50:50 whipped cream:cream cheese

brokengoalposts · 24/04/2022 19:33

Cool whip is revolting, really artificial tasting... what with it being artificial cream, lol. Agree that dream topping is the best you'll get.

SlatsandFlaps · 24/04/2022 22:53

Melt a load of marshmallows with half a block of butter in the microwave - Cool Whip

User0610134049 · 24/04/2022 23:01

I’d find a new recipe!
