My mum's got Covid so we won't be seeing my parents unfortunately.

Which means I'm cooking....

What are you planning on eating for lunch on Sunday if you aren't going out?

Following as we were meant to eat out but we now all have covid!

hobbledyhoy · 23/03/2022 21:41

Same here. Due to have a lovely lunch out, now got bloody Covid.

longtompot · 23/03/2022 21:50

We are having this www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/pot-roast-beef-french-onion-gravy for dinner with www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/fennel_and_potato_gratin_29963 but without fennel, just doing shallots, with a pavlova for pudding and some nice wine.

Reluctantadult · 23/03/2022 21:51

A sandwich?

anyoldname76 · 23/03/2022 21:53

I'm cooking roast lamb, roast pots and parsnips, cauliflower cheese, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, mash and Yorkshire puds. Trifle or choc cake for pudding

Oh wow that sounds amazing!!! My mum was planning similar. I don't have the energy to do a mega roast even tho I'd happily eat it!!

Pesto salmon en croute with tender stem broccoli
Creme brûlée

Swifey40 · 24/03/2022 04:14

I have fractured my ankle and have torn all the ligaments which means my dh has done everything for the last three weeks, inc school runs (45 mins each way) and then working for another 2 hours when the children are in bed, do he's absolutely knackered! So we are ordering picnic stuff from sainsburys (the only people to deliver here) so we can all have a break. We would not have seen either of our mothers anyway, but would have gone to the beach instead and he would have made an amazing picnic!

Phos · 24/03/2022 04:24

No idea. DH conveniently forgot and has arranged to go out (with his mate, not us)

LolaLouLou · 24/03/2022 04:31

My DH is making a full English breakfast. That will be the extent of the cooking.

DoWhatYouLike · 24/03/2022 08:02

My husband offered to cook and asked what I'd like. Beef Rogan Josh, with accompaniments (Samosas, naans, pakoras) from a gorgeous Indian shop, where all the stuff is home-made. Sons will be joining us.

EventuallyDelighted · 24/03/2022 08:11

We'll all just get ourselves a sandwich or similar same as other Sundays, both DCs do sport on Sunday afternoons so our main meal is in the evening but has to be something we can either cook quickly or leave slowcooking while we're all out.

LubaLuca · 24/03/2022 08:19

We're going out for lunch, for the first time since I've been a mum myself (a long time!). We normally cook at home and have my mum over, but I much prefer eating out.

Pyewhacket · 24/03/2022 08:21

What ever is available from the staff canteen.

gogohm · 24/03/2022 08:40

No idea, still term time so kids are at university. Pasta perhaps

myceliumama · 24/03/2022 15:03

All my family are coming over. So doing a buffet/cream tea style thing. Me, my two sisters, our 7 kids, my grand baby and our mum and dad. So 4 generations .

Would be lovely but I don't actually like most of them that much 😂. My sister is my best friend but the rest of them are hard work. My kids included

MrsMiddleMother · 24/03/2022 16:57

Steak, mushroom and onion baguettes 😁

AnastasiaRomanov · 24/03/2022 17:26

Soup probably.

ShrigleyForty · 24/03/2022 20:37

Slow cooked brisket which yields the most amazing gravy. Roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese, carrots, peas, Yorkshire puddings. Homemade Bakewell tart cheesecake.

And could you share the cheesecake recipe as my kids could make that and would love it!

While DH has been surprisingly on the ball - he actually took the kids shopping for mothers day gifts earlier this week (vs his usual emergency rush on Saturday....), the chances he's booked a meal out are slim to zero!

So I'm back of my mind considering roast lamb with all the trimmings that I like.

valbyruta · 25/03/2022 19:30

Flowers
Tidypidy · 25/03/2022 19:34

We're having roast chicken with new pots, peas and gravy. Toffee roulade from Lidl with raspberries for pudding. Keeping it simple!

ClottedCreamAndScones · 25/03/2022 19:37

I’m making scones, dh and ds are making a cake and sandwiches then we’re off to the beach for afternoon tea with mil.

SookieHouseboat · 25/03/2022 19:41

Rack of lamb, roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, broccoli, cauliflower cheese, loads of gravy
