I'd like to get into making Bundt cakes Which ones are best? Are nordicware tins worth the price?

We have a nordicware Bundt pan and love it. Thought it would be difficult to use/grease, but no more so than any other cake tin. Have bought another this year, but it's hidden away as a Christmas surprise

Oooh which one have you hidden? I love them so much.

Oooh pretty! I've bought a basic Bundt tin to try to start. I'd like this one for Christmas:

That's so pretty. Might need to add to my Wishlist too!

IpanemaPeaHen · 16/10/2021 17:11

I’ve got stacks of Nordic ware. Most of it over 10 years old. It really does last 🥮

FlatteredFool · 16/10/2021 17:16

I am very envious of a stack of nordicware! I bake a lot and it's one of life's pleasures in our family so investing in good equipment is investing in happiness.

What recipes do you use as they are big buggers?

I really want the one that is shaped like fir trees but it's £49!

Here's one I made last year with Raspberry and Rose cake...

I love that they're quite easy to make but look stunning!

I love my bundt tin and also struggle with recipes!

My favourite recipes are

Mary Berry blueberry and lime drizzle
Nigella pecan, cinnamon and maple syrup (can't remember exact name!)

This is my Nordicware tin.

I have quite a few recipes on a section of a Pinterest Board here

(Yes, it's outing but I don't mind as I'm a pretty open book in real life and wang on about Mumsnet all the time anyway...)

MilduraS · 16/10/2021 18:10

Ooh I love all your Bundt tins! I don't have one myself but a neighbour brought this cake to a Christmas party a few years ago and it was beautiful www.deliciousmagazine.co.uk/recipes/sticky-gingerbread-bundt-cake/

FlatteredFool · 16/10/2021 18:29

@MilduraS OMG!! That looks divine. I always adjust recipes slightly so I'd use cranberries instead of pomegranates. How perfect for Christmas.

Thank you so much for this thread FlatteredFool you’ve inspired me - I’ve just ordered the Nordic harvest leaves Bundt tin and I’ll try the recipe MilduraS posted for the ginger cake.

I didn’t think I could cope with a mould with sharp edges in the pattern to start with, although those looked amazing - how do you cook the cake through but avoid getting burnt edges..?

Mouthfulofquiz · 17/10/2021 09:05

I bought the fir trees one about 10 years ago ish having seen Nigella use it. It was well worth the money. The Bundt recipes are dead easy and the results always look really impressive. You really do need to make this particular one non stick to pick out the details. I use melted butter and then flour. I also have a train one and a dinosaur one. Really great purchases.

IpanemaPeaHen · 17/10/2021 10:31

I should have clarified that I bought the majority when I lived in the USA and it was cheaper there.

Currently using my pumpkin autumn range Smile

IpanemaPeaHen · 17/10/2021 10:33

wheresmymojo I love your Bundt pictures.

PurpleDaisies · 17/10/2021 10:34

This is such a lovely thread!

Bipbopbee · 17/10/2021 10:53

Looked up Nordic ware and have completely fallen down a rabbit hole Grin
Just ordered the gingerbread house one on Amazon as it will double up as a haunted house cake for Halloween if I make it in chocolate!

Xmasbaby11 · 17/10/2021 11:19

I'm keen to make a lemon drizzle bundt (fleur de lys) for my dad's 80th, but my usual recipe doesn't look special enough and I want one with a visible icing / glaze and some sort of decorations! Does anyone have a recipe?

FlatteredFool · 17/10/2021 18:40

The one I really want only seems to be available in the USA. Unless more come up on eBay here.

Oooh can't resist a bundle thread. I love them. Here's a treasure trove of bundt recipes:
www.foodlibrarian.com/p/i-like-big-bundts.html?m=1

I've got 3 Nordicware tins; itching to get the Braided or Heritage ones.

AngusThermopyle · 17/10/2021 19:46

I've had the Nordicware pine for over 10 years now. I only ever really use it around Christmas. I usually give it a spray first with Wilton cake release or similar. It helps especially with the pointy bits.

I've just bought one!!! I offered $15 dollars as a counter offer and was accepted. I can't wait now! I don't think these ones are made anymore as I can't find any new to buy anywhere. I wanted one last year after reading about them on here but couldn't afford one and left it too late to arrive in time for Christmas anyway. Shipping etc is a fair whack but it's coming a long way so to be expected.
