Currently dieting and have quaker original porridge sachets for breakfast. When I add cinnamon it Doesn't really taste of anything, is this because I'm not adding sugar? Can anyone help?

Add a pinch of salt! It won't taste salty but it will bring out all the other tastes (and has no calories, unlike syrup, since you mention you're dieting). Stuff without salt always tastes like cardboard, even sweet stuff.

You need to get used to things tasting less sweet than you're used to. It takes a bit of time for your taste buds to adjust.

I make my porridge in the microwave - 1/3 US cup measure of oats, double of milk, 2mins.

I then add a handful of raspberries or blueberries (you can stir frozen ones into the hot porridge and they'll melt in seconds) and a shake of cinnamon.

If you're used to add sugar then it'll taste quite bland but now the sugar added stuff is cloyingly sweet to me.
