What's for Tea (Dinner if you're not in the North)

Think we're having Easy Lamb Biryani. DD is super fussy but has actually asked for this so there's a chance she'll eat it. It's a small chance but a chance is good Smile

Can you post the recipe or link to the creamy chicken pasta bake please? Need some new pasta inspiration!

Juice9000 · 06/07/2021 12:27

Im in the North and say dinner

I bet you haven’t always called it dinner though Biscuit
Did you even refer to it as dinner when you were a kid?

I just think it’s easier all round to refer to an evening meal as tea, then there’s no confusion about which meal you’re talking about.

Juice9000 · 06/07/2021 12:27

Oops, wrong one Grin

ICECream821 · 06/07/2021 12:31

Brown rice and dhal with Greek yogurt for us all - left over dhal from yesterday

AdaColeman · 06/07/2021 12:32

Parma ham with marinated figs, carottes râpées vinaigrette, and potato salad, with poached peach in syrup for pudding. Wine Wine

It’s dinner here, even though I’m in the north!

Spaceman1 · 06/07/2021 12:32

It's called supper, tea is scones and jam!!

Jumpingintosummer · 06/07/2021 12:36

Chicken and chickpea curry with spinach, brown rice and a dollop of yogurt. Probably a quick white micro rice for youngest DD when she clicks the brown cooking Hmm.

in our house it's called "sit down and ear your food!"
Jumpingintosummer · 06/07/2021 12:39

Ps. Dinner here in Scotland, tea is mid afternoon with scones or cake!

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 06/07/2021 12:40

We went on holiday to Scotland when I was about 12. One day they were serving tea and it was cake & scones, I was very confused! Grin

We are having home made chicken noodle soup. I'm roasting the chicken for it now. It's really good.

youngestisapsycho · 06/07/2021 12:45

Steak and mushroom pie - more mushroom than steak with chips and peas.
I recently bought a deep fat fryer.

Floralnomad · 06/07/2021 12:57

I’m SE and it’s always been dinner here . Tonight we are having leek and potato pie with veg .

SirenSays · 06/07/2021 13:01

We will be having spicy chicken with med veg, chilli halloumi and homemade flatbreads. I need to whip something up to go with the quick boozy berry compote I plan on making later.

We've always said breakfast, lunch and dinner but weirdly in school we said lunch time and dinner ladies.

motogogo · 06/07/2021 13:12

Salad of some kind, I'm on a diet

Studiodoll · 06/07/2021 13:18

Homemade Irish Stew with colcannon mash and homemade soda bread with lots of real Irish butter to mop up the soup.

Seventimesaday · 06/07/2021 13:20

Home made cheese and Onion pie with veg for tea tonight.

inigomontoyahwillcox · 06/07/2021 13:27

Pulled pork if the pork shoulder defrosts in time, jacket pots and salad.

lazylinguist · 06/07/2021 13:33

Ex Northerner still refers it to tea. Bangers and mash.

Ex southerner here, still call it dinner. Chorizo and broad bean risotto (with little new broad beans from the garden). A bit fusion, I know!

FizzyPink · 06/07/2021 13:58

@BashStreet1 it’s from the book I’m afraid and I can’t find it on the website. Although they do have lots of other recipes if you type pasta into the search bar - pinchofnom.com/

jannathehut · 06/07/2021 14:33

Roast chicken dinner! I'm off this week so have the extra time.
Wondering whether or not to pressure cook the whole chicken in the ninja foodi and then air fry it to crisp it up or just roast it in the oven?
Doing roasties, yorkies, carrots, broc&cauli cheese and maybe apple sauce. Stuffing if we have any in, and gravy of course.
