What do you use the fresh mint for, other than mint sauce?

I love the flavour of mint and grow it quite successfully in the garden but apart from a couple of handfuls a year for mint sauce, I never use it.

What other ways are you all using it please?

Mojitos, pesto (good with pistachios), lamb kebabs, tea, potato and mint dumplings, strawberry desserts.

ClaudiaWankleman · 14/06/2021 14:18

Also great in a barely cooked tomato and mint sauce. Goes very well with trout.

RustyBear · 14/06/2021 14:27

My mum always used to put some in when boiling potatoes, especially new ones

grannycake · 14/06/2021 14:31

Lovely in a pea soup

minipie · 14/06/2021 14:31

Mint with elderflower. makes it less sweet and more refreshing

Jamie Oliver pea and prawn risotto with basil and mint

Chickpea salad with parsley and mint

Fresh mint tea

Wish mine would grow better!

CaptainMyCaptain · 14/06/2021 14:31

I'm having potato salad tonight with plenty of mint.

HopingForOurRainbowBaby · 14/06/2021 14:33

Watermelon, feta cheese, and mint salad with balsamic vinegar. It's soooo refreshing when it's hot outside

LunaNorth · 14/06/2021 14:41

Nice sprinkled over a cheat’s moussaka with crumbled feta.

PattyPan · 14/06/2021 15:30

I put some in tabbouleh yesterday and I’m going to make tzatziki in the week 😋

Scarby9 · 14/06/2021 15:31

Boiling with potatoes. Preferably new. Preferably Jersey Royals.

MissyB1 · 14/06/2021 15:32

Works well in pasta dishes. Try pasta shapes with Feta cheese, mint and cherry tomatoes.

AlwaysLatte · 14/06/2021 15:34

I use in salads, with yoghurt to go with curries, in Pimms, in omelettes, all sorts!

Mominatrix · 14/06/2021 15:37

salads, fresh mint tea, ice cream (real mint chocolate chip ice cream), salsa verde

Coffee4Queen · 14/06/2021 15:39

Lamb & mint burgers

BasiliskStare · 14/06/2021 15:40

With Pimms , new potatoes , frankly any potatoes , cranberry sauce with mint , lamb , peas and tiny carrots ( any spring vegetables ) , tomatoes and / mozzarella / feta could be instead of basil , & just chucked into a salad

Cowbells · 14/06/2021 15:41

fresh mint tea
mint and cucumber or mint and strawberry infused water
minted yoghurt dip/sauce
finely chopped in couscous
with peas, asparagus and leeks in a risotto
chopped in melted butter to drizzle over new potatoes
in G&Ts or Pimms

MustardRose · 14/06/2021 15:42

I chuck a sprig in the water when cooking peas.

slug · 14/06/2021 15:44

White Port
Tonic
Fresh mint
Lots of ice

atz333 · 14/06/2021 15:46

Green chutney for indian/Pakistani food. I make it regularly and it is delicious. Blend mint leaves, coriander, tomato, dried pomegranate seeds, salt and green chillies in a blender. You can freeze these in ice cube trays to use. Mix with natural yoghurt to serve.

Ted27 · 14/06/2021 15:47

Paddington’s green risotto

Plain risotto, to which add a puree of peas, spinach and mint

Nisse1 · 14/06/2021 15:59

@HopingForOurRainbowBaby

Watermelon, feta cheese, and mint salad with balsamic vinegar. It's soooo refreshing when it's hot outside
Add chopped black olives and a warm baguette and it is my favourite summer dish!
waltzingparrot · 14/06/2021 16:59

Thank you everybody. I'm going to work my way through every suggestion here.

The tzatsiki sounds lovely, and I shall start with that tonight.
