Condiments on toast

Anyone else like non-standard stuff on toast? Today I had mint sauce. Wondering if there are any other condiments that might work. Cranberry sauce I imagine would be good. Mustard probably a bit much. On the fence on horseradish, might give it a go.

absolutely not procrastinating Wink

Filthy, filthy bastard.

Growing up we used to have brown sauce on toast. I still have that occasionally. Branston pickle is really nice too, I sprinkle a bit of grated cheese on sometimes, pop it under the grill. Very nice.

My son puts anything on toast, including things like mash potatoes. His favourite is guacamole and salsa on toast.

Bovril

KurtWilde · 28/04/2021 10:41

Yea to bovril too.

@GillBungalow

Filthy, filthy bastard.
Grin that was DH’s reaction when he came down and saw me munching away.

Ooh I did wonder about brown sauce but thought it might be a bit OTT. Guacamole sounds like a great idea!

I’ve never bought Bovril but love a good bit of umami so that would definitely be one to try.

I just remembered tomato ketchup on toast, growing up.
I don't mind brown sauce, so long as it's sitting on half a pound of cheddar.

hellojim · 28/04/2021 11:05

I like humous with sliced tomatoes on top

FelicityPike · 28/04/2021 11:07

We had tomato ketchup and crisps sandwiches growing up. Confused

Bluesheep8 · 28/04/2021 11:18

Sun dried tomato pesto and salad cream. Together.

LindaEllen · 28/04/2021 11:19

Brown sauce or ketchup on toast is something I used to have as a hungover student and honestly it's great!

MissBridgetJones · 28/04/2021 11:21

I like salt and pepper on toast (with a good covering on real butter)

GuyFawkesHadTheRightIdea · 28/04/2021 11:23

We had salt and pepper sandwiches as kids. And my dad alway said when he had a little bar of chocolate as a kid his mum used to make him put it in a slice of bread to make it go further.

Cheese on toast with a good slathering of salad cream.

Yellowhighheels · 28/04/2021 11:52

Brown sauce on toast is the best!

lastqueenofscotland · 28/04/2021 12:54

My dad loved Bovril on toast. I thought it was absolutely lifting Envy

I like beetroot hummus an inch thick on sourdough

Iceniii · 28/04/2021 12:57

Sunday tea was always tomato ketshup on toast.

DH use to have beef dripping and salt.

Hughbert · 28/04/2021 13:01

Not on toast, but an HP sauce roll or baguette is a fabulous thing. I like a piccallil sandwich too.

SingingInTheShithouse · 28/04/2021 13:05

Daal, mushy peas or pease pudding topped with balsamic drizzle

Sweet chilli with peanut butter

cerealgamechanger · 28/04/2021 13:34

Guacamole is delicious as are bananas.

Also Indian mince and pea curry with cheese on top, lightly grilled... 😋
