For a gas hob...

Anything that's stainless steel sticks (or am I using it wrong) anything that's 'non stick' doesn't seem to last, and I'm very careful to use rubber utensils and wash carefully... So what do I need? please help!

Well... I’ve replaced my lot with GreenPan pans. These don’t have all the ‘bad chemicals’ and seem pretty sturdy. I got them on offer and they were a good price.

FusionChefGeoff · 10/02/2021 20:27

What's the budget?? When we moved we spanked so much money on stamp duty / fees etc normally large sums paled into insignificance so I bought Le Creuset non stick and they're AMAZING.

And when I abused the frying pan a bit (let it overheat without anything in it (induction hob) and the coating un stuck, they sent me a brand new one no questions asked.

AuntieDolly · 10/02/2021 20:34

I’ve got le creuset stainless steel pans and stuff doesn’t stick to them.

I recently (ish - August) bought a Stellar 7000 saucepan with a draining lid. My only complaint is that the lid handle gets hot, but the draining option is great. It's reasonably hefty and seems good quality.

bellagogosdead · 10/02/2021 20:45

Stainless steel works for me, somethings stick, but they can always be cleaned, even if it does take s bit of soaking or scrubbing. I have had the same set for at least 10 years.
Even really good quality non-stop coatings peel or flake after a while.

FTM91 · 10/02/2021 20:48

Oh no, I was hoping you'd all say don't bother shelling out for Le Creuset, it's just the brand name Grin

Budget I reckon could go up to £200ish

FTM91 · 10/02/2021 20:50

@bellagogosdead it's less about the cleaning, but I was trying to brown some chicken fillets yesterday and as soon as they hit the pan they just seemed to glue on to it!! Do then they year up when I try to pull them up. Plenty of oil...maybe too hot? The pan is fine for other things just seem to have the sticking issue with meat so maybe I am just using it wrong

Then they tear up*

OP posts:
bellagogosdead · 10/02/2021 21:05

Is that not normal for chicken?

DisappointingAvocado · 10/02/2021 21:07

Love our hard anodized circulon set. Was about 250 on sale I think.

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 10/02/2021 21:25

I had a set of le creuset for about 15 years - I actually managed to crack one! They are pretty heavy though - even without the food. Try here - www.greenpan.co.uk/products/promotions

Tr1skel1on · 10/02/2021 21:28

I bought a set of Green Pan pans about 15 months ago. They have not lasted well. Coating coming off, wobbly handles.

I have treated them well, I do a lot of cooking but I look after them. I'm extremely disappointed unfortunately

Tr1skel1on · 10/02/2021 21:29

Just looked at the GreenPan website. I have the Mayflower 4 piece set. Other pans might be better

DollyP23 · 10/02/2021 21:29

I second circulon- they're great

You're trying to turn it too soon! It won't stick if it's ready (in any pan)

This pan is fab, we use it all the time. It's non-stick, have had it 6 years so far and still use it most days.

OverByYer · 10/02/2021 21:39

I’ve had these for over a year and am really impressed

Currently replacing all my Le crueset with Circulon - much better.

Technology has moved on. Those Le Creuset are just too heavy

Erictheavocado · 10/02/2021 21:47

I love circulon hard anodised but my current set is actually a stainless steel set I got from Tesco when they gave vouchers when you spent a certain amount on your shopping. They are around ten years old and still amazing. I am gradually using my clubcard vouchers to build up a set from Denby stainless steel. The ones I've opened and used are also really great quality.

DappledOliveGroves · 10/02/2021 22:05

I love my Circulon pans. I have two frying pans and a sauté pan so far and they're all brilliant.

HappydaysArehere · 10/02/2021 22:41

Years ago I bought Le Crueset casserole dish and a saucepan. The casserole stained badly but my dd wanted it and she used it for ages. The saucepan didn’t stand up to my cooking so decided no more Crueset for me. In the 1960s I invested in two Oldstrom saucepans. They are stainless steel and cost at the time the princely sums of £5 and £6.10s. I still have them and they still look good. I can no longer afford that make but always think of them as the best and cheapest saucepans I have bought in sixty years of marriage,

LadyEloise · 13/03/2021 20:21

Erictheavocado
I too have stainless steel saucepans I got saving stamps when you spent a certain amount in Tesco. They are Wedgewood saucepans and have really stood the test of time. It was a promotion in the Tesco branches in Ireland.
I'm thinking of getting Teflon Ingenio saucepans with the removable handle as my kitchen cupboard space isn't great.

asparalite · 13/03/2021 20:30

Stainless steel probably the best bet long term, anything non stick will eventually wear, Le Crueset too heavy, stainless steel easy to clean and lasts forever.
