Recipes for large amount of milk?

Spottybluepyjamas · 05/07/2020 12:25

We've ended up with about 10 litres of milk - does anyone have any suggestions of any recipes that we can use this for? Sweet, savoury, adult and toddler recipes all welcome! Thank you very much!

Macaroni cheese, fish pie, mushroom soup, pancakes, rice pudding. Anything with a white sauce really. And you can freeze milk, although be careful when defrosting as the cartons are now so thin they frequently split.

Make cheese. Halloumi is quick and easy. You will need rennet tablets and a cheesecloth though but both are cheap as chips and fairly easy to get.
Delicious. I make halloumi the morning of a bbq it's thAt quick.

SweetPeaPods · 05/07/2020 14:16

Anything with a white or cheese sauce- lasagne, macaroni cheese, fish pie.
Pancakes or Yorkshire puddings?
Milkshakes for pudding?

mamakoukla · 05/07/2020 14:22

Egg custard tarts? But 10 L is a fair amount. So, milkshakes, make and freeze lasagna (we do a white sauce only version with minced chicken and mushroom in it), shepherds pie (mashed potato) will freeze

FusionChefGeoff · 05/07/2020 14:27

I'd make portions of cheese sauce then freeze flat in freezer bags

mamakoukla · 05/07/2020 14:39

Crème caramel? What sort of milk? Full fat? Semi? Skimmed?

ThreeCubesBalancing · 05/07/2020 14:41

Angel delight would be the easiest thing!

Lasse type drinks

I'd make a huge batch of white sauce and freeze

You can freeze the milk too

Iced coffee

Milky hot coffee

Indian chai

cameocat · 05/07/2020 18:20

I was going to say things other have said. I'd be freezing the milk too and using over the next month.

bluebells1 · 05/07/2020 18:21

Paneer, Custard, White Sauce, Rice Pudding, Yoghurt (and yoghurt based drinks).

SuperSange · 05/07/2020 18:24

Just freeze it?

saltycat · 05/07/2020 18:26

Make your own yogurt. Check it out online. Only thing you need is a big pan, a starter from a live yogurt pot, and a food thermometer. Then add flavours as you wish.

saltycat · 05/07/2020 18:27

Oh and the finished yogurt will last for weeks on end too!

FelicityBeedle · 05/07/2020 18:43

Rice pudding! Give to friends and family?

Hercwasonaroll · 05/07/2020 18:45

Freeze it?

Yorkshire puddings. Rice pudding. Mac and cheese. Quiche. Hot chocolate.

userabcname · 05/07/2020 19:15

Milk tart. Delicious.

DateLoaf · 05/07/2020 19:17

Rice pudding!

dementedma · 05/07/2020 19:18

I made a boiled fruit cake today which had half a pint of milk in it. It’s delicious. Good Food REcipe

Offer to neighbours and freeze some.

Spottybluepyjamas · 08/07/2020 14:09

Thanks everyone - so many options! We can't freeze it (we have a full freezer of batch cooked meals already) and giving it to neighbours isn't an option. Definitely giving a few of these suggestions a go though - thank you!

@Malin52 are they vegetable rennet? We eat a lot of halloumi.

FelicityBeedle · 08/07/2020 20:12

@Spottybluepyjamas
Still very intrigued as to how you ended up with so much

Malin52 · 09/07/2020 08:48

@ginfordinner. Yes. Veggie rennet. www.amazon.co.uk/Millie-Microbial-Rennet-Tablets-Vegetarian/dp/B01JZO0W54

Then search google for mad Millie halloumi recipe

Or you can get a starter pack box which has all you need and loads of recipes and lasts forever
