Discovering my love of dips with thinks to dunk and on a plate of salad and as condiments. So far blue cheese (with chicken wings) , salsa ( with chilli) houmous( and pita) guacamole (also with chilli fajitas etc)

What are you easy dips!

Tzatziki. I make it at home with grated cucumber squeezed out, chopped mint, garlic, olive oil, salt and full fat Greek yoghurt. Goes well with ready salted crisps as well as pitta/veg etc

Sour creme and a packet of French onion soup. Not exactly health food but very, very more-ish

sarahcoffeelover · 20/05/2020 20:10

Just made tzatziki thanks to Angelic Grin
I'm having a picky dinner, cheese n veg n dips etc. Made some salsa yesterday that I've got a little left over. Taramasalata is one of my faves too

Beetroot and horseradish, blitz cooked beetroot (not pickled but the stuff that is vac packed is fine) in a food processor with a good glug of balsamic and a sprinkle of salt. Then add plain yoghurt (fat free works fine) and a heaped tablespoon of hot horseradish sauce.

TyneTeas · 20/05/2020 20:45

Roast some peppers. Skin them, then blend them with a bit of balsamic vinegar and basil

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/05/2020 20:51

Mash some feta. Mix it with v finely chopped red onion and v finely chopped green chilli. Thin it with a bit of natural yoghurt.

Philadelphia on a plate. Sweet chilli sauce. Shedload of coriander.

Not a dip but great for eating with tortilla chips - finely chopped mango, red pepper, red onion, red chilli, lime juice and coriander

iklboo · 20/05/2020 20:53

1/2 mayo, 1/2 sour cream, onion powder

TyneTeas · 20/05/2020 20:53

Finely chop some black olives. Add about twice the weight in cream cheese and a bit of lemon juice and black pepper

TyneTeas · 20/05/2020 20:53

Plain yoghurt and garam masala

ieatmainelylobster · 20/05/2020 21:52

These all sound amazing! Thank you.

@remus the feta one is top of the list. I ate the last mango but have a pineapple so will do a pineapple salsa.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/05/2020 22:56

I never thought of doing a pineapple version. Will definitely give that a go.

goose1964 · 20/05/2020 22:59

Half mayo and half Greek yogurt and mint, if you add a little sugar it tastes like the dip you get with tandoori chicken.

OhioOhioOhio · 20/05/2020 23:00

The beetroot one sounds good.

newtb · 21/05/2020 07:39

Small pot of Fromage frais/blanc/yoghurt, good tablespoon of garlic mayonnaise and some dried powdered lovage.

Roselilly36 · 21/05/2020 07:45

Greek yoghurt with a good dollop of mint sauce.

EdwinaMay · 21/05/2020 07:50

I've never seen dried powdered lovage in a recipe before, newtb!
I have some fresh, I could try grating it, or chopping the leaves.

I have made a garlic dip with cream cheese beaten smooth and 2 or more garlic cloves crushed, and chopped finel,y and added. Very moreish.

CherryPavlova · 21/05/2020 07:55

Will anyone ever eat shared food again?

bertiebottseveryfalvourbeans · 21/05/2020 08:42

I use yoghurt instead of sour cream and my guacamole recipe is just avocado, small amount of salt, tiniest bit of honey, lots of olive oil and a clove of crushed garlic and then just blend all of it 😁

ilovemydogandMrObama · 21/05/2020 08:47

Roasted aubergine and feta - blitz in food processor
Roasted aubergine, tahini and lemon - easy babaganoush

Jamie Oliver recipe - half jalapenos, half coriander - blitz in food processor. I add a bit of yoghurt.

PurpleDaisies · 21/05/2020 08:47

Avjar (a red pepper dip I ate buckets full on holiday)

White onion dip from Tesco vegan range

There’s a Greek one with red pepper and feta in that’s delicious

Mint jelly stirred into yoghurt with poppadoms works well

sashh · 21/05/2020 09:04

Mint in yoghurt. If I'm feeling 'fancy' I'll add finely chopped cucumber and spring onions.

A 50/50 mix of yoghurt and mayonaise - add minced garlic for a garlic dip. Add spices for a spicy dip. Add dijon mustard for a mustard dip.

ClientQ · 21/05/2020 09:05

@CherryPavlova I don't share dips Grin all MINE

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/05/2020 09:07

My yoghurt dip for curries is:
Natural yoghurt - The thin stuff rather than the really good stuff
Mint sauce from a had
Pinch of sugar
Squeeze of lemon
Salt and pepper
Swirl of tamarind paste drizzled over

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/05/2020 09:08

Jar - The mint sauce is from a jar. Stupid bloody kindle.
