If you're having peanut butter on it ?

Oh Jesus Christ no. But then I'm a weirdo who cannot tolerate the taste of butter with other things; toast with just butter is fine but toast and butter AND something else is disgusting. (Also hate butter on sandwiches...)

I'd sooner try the peanut butter and pickles!

RockinHippy · 12/12/2019 01:14

No, but I put sweet chilli sauce on top so it's less claggy

HeronLanyon · 12/12/2019 06:36

rockinhippy me too. It’s great isn’t it ? I hadn’t dared to raise it after my gherkin banishment.

funmummy48 · 12/12/2019 06:40

No and I don't put butter on toast if I'm having pate, either. I butter my toast for everything else though and use lashings of butter if I'm having sardines on toast!

Stokey1412 · 12/12/2019 08:37

Wow... didn't realise it was such a contentious issue !

I tried it with and without butter... and have come to the conclusion that....
I don't actually like peanut butter Blush

So I'll ask MNHQ to remove this thread as I'm too embarrassed and maybe someone in RL will realise who I am Confused

Oh absolutely! The more the better! Blush

Absoluteunit · 12/12/2019 16:16

I don't but I'm going to have to try it now in the interest of science. Will report back!

WooMaWang · 12/12/2019 17:00

No. But only because I wouldn't put peanut butter on toast in the first place. 😂

wafflyversatile · 12/12/2019 17:01

mashed banana is a good companion to peanut butter. You still need butter though. All toast needs butter.

WooMaWang · 12/12/2019 17:09

Oh yes. Mashed banana on toast is amazing. Or just in a sandwich.

CornishMaid1 · 12/12/2019 17:09

Butter always. Butter makes toast delicious and apparently there is some scientific way that it actually enhances the flavour of toast (it was on one of the food programmes I saw earlier this year, I think about food factories).

Toast needs butter to make it nice and moist and then you add any topping on top, so will always have butter and then peanut butter. The same with butter then mashed avocado or butter then pate.

BlastEndedSkrewt · 12/12/2019 17:14

yes & marmite

lioness88 · 12/12/2019 17:14

No but I'm going to try that now!

Wallabyone · 12/12/2019 20:15

A resounding yes from me, it's much nicer with. See also Nutella, a zillion times better with slightly salted butter beneath.

Queenoftheashes · 12/12/2019 20:17

Wtf no!

smemorata · 12/12/2019 20:18

Was about to say of course, but actually no. The only time I don't put butter on toast is with peanut butter.

FurnitureAndBackgammon · 12/12/2019 20:31

Well now you both need to stand in the corner and think about what you have done.

Eatsshoootsandleaves · 12/12/2019 20:46

@FreckledLeopard too right. Let it be known that the best and only way to eat peanut butter on toast is to set a base of butter and Nutella first. Bonus points if toast is still hot /warm when you eat it. Triple bonus points if it's toast made with tiger bread.

TheWildRumpyPumpus · 12/12/2019 20:51

Noooooo. Toast has to be really hot from the toaster so the peanut butter does melt into it, then a layer of marmalade on the top.

Perfect.

ExpletiveFairylighted · 12/12/2019 20:55

I tell you what is nice. Hot toast with crunchy peanut butter topped with cold slices of avocado. Hot/cold, crunchy/soft, all go together nicely. I think a bit of sweet chilli sauce would top it off nicely. I make satay sauce out of crunchy PB, sweet chilli sauce and lime juice.
