If you're having peanut butter on it ?

Yes. Toast must be hot so butter melts.

Pipandmum · 11/12/2019 19:53

No.

TheGriffle · 11/12/2019 20:00

Peanut butter needs butter underneath. Nutella just needs more Nutella.

Drogonssmile · 11/12/2019 20:01

Hell yes! DH doesn't and he is wrong.

Ohyesiam · 11/12/2019 20:02

To bloody right I do. DH disapproves.

milkysmum · 11/12/2019 20:24

Yes definitely butter

ConstanceL · 11/12/2019 21:43

Yes - it's too dry without butter!

pissedoffwithprojects · 11/12/2019 22:11

God no! Bloody awful.

LauraMipsum · 11/12/2019 22:14

If the peanut butter is standing in for the butter and there's a layer of jam or banana (not gherkin, Heron you weirdo Grin) then no. But if it's just peanut butter then yes.

Unless it's marmite peanut butter in which case no butter needed underneath.

Luckingfovely · 11/12/2019 22:18

Of course! So bland and dry without! If you're going to indulge - do it properly, please!

witchy89 · 11/12/2019 22:25

Yes!!! My partner doesn't and he thinks I'm weird. It's way too dry without it! Although, if the toast isn't hot enough to melt the butter then I wouldn't, it all smears into a buttery peanut mess and is just Confused

firesong · 11/12/2019 23:05

No

Same with beans on toast Smile

HeronLanyon · 11/12/2019 23:13

But beans on toast requires lashings of butter ( and capers and sometime red onion). !

Knowhowufeel · 11/12/2019 23:16

obviously. Peanut butter is not butter, however it identifies! Therefore butter is still required.

FurnitureAndBackgammon · 11/12/2019 23:24

I put sliced gherkins on top to give it some wet and tang.

Go and stand in the corner.

mamaduckbone · 11/12/2019 23:26

Never. But I really need to try it with now.

HeronLanyon · 11/12/2019 23:27

Grin there will be a number of Americans there with me I think.

FrankinsenseKnuckle · 11/12/2019 23:28

Yes, or it's too dry.

As an aside my husband butters toast before spreading with Nutella -in his words it is to prime the toast first.....

Yes I have considered divorce,

GenuineKlatchianPottery · 11/12/2019 23:30

Of course I do! I’m not an animal. Smile

IHaveBrilloHair · 12/12/2019 00:34

Of course, butter makes everything better.

Knowhowufeel · 12/12/2019 00:45

Butter is needed for everything on toast, but especially jam, chocolate spread, pate, peanut butter or beans.

FreckledLeopard · 12/12/2019 00:45

Yes, definitely.

An even better combination is toast, butter, peanut butter and then Nutella on top of that. The peanut butter/chocolate combination is amazing (although it probably doesn't do much for avoiding heart disease if you eat it regularly!)

Knowhowufeel · 12/12/2019 00:49

FreckledLeopard, I have to agree with that suggestion!

It's like eating a melted snickers on toast, which I swear I haven't done Wink

wafflyversatile · 12/12/2019 00:49

Regardless of anything else you might want butter always goes on toast. Is toast even really toast in any meaningful way if there is no butter?

IceBearRocks · 12/12/2019 00:58

No...peanut butter....smooth and real peanut butter not Sunpat.the slight tinge of jam
