Dips! Inspiration anyone?!

Our family love love love dips. I don't like bought ones, too gloopy, so make my own.

The go-to favourite is avocado dip. End up doing it every time. I've also done blue cheese dip, smoked salmon dip, baba ganoush (bit labour intensive), homemade hummus.

I just want something different. Is anyone else's family as dip-obsessed as us? it's just an excuse for lots of crisps

Do salsas count? I make a lovely mango one

Yes to the cream cheese drizzled with sweet chilli sauce, especially if covered with a load of fresh coriander

Tsatziki - buy proper thick Greek yoghurt and be generous with garlic and lemon juice

Another Greek style one is mashed feta, thinned with some yoghurt and then add lots of finely chopped green chilli

Yum, thank you! I like a salsa too, but love creamy dips as my waistline proves Grin

For a popular salsa in my family, it's coriander, red onion and cherry tomatoes. All chopped up with a bit of vinegar and oil, salt and pepper.

I used to make a spinach dip, which I would put in a hollowed out cottage loaf.

Can't remember it exactly, but it involved a packet of dried onion soup, cream cheese and obviously spinach. It was amazingly good and someone once said of it, 'how can something this green, be so good!'Grin

Another 70s one but a family favourite here,

Philadelphia mixed with a good dollop of tomato ketchup and a good dollop of salad cream and chopped celery mixed in.

Food of the gods. Particularly when eaten with ready salted pringles.

I've just made what I guess you could call liver pate and accidentally liquidised it so it's essentially a dip.

Soften 1 onion in pan.
Add 500gr organic chicken livers, brown (I cooked them all the way through as I'm pregnant, but otherwise would just brown).
Add some thyme and season, garlic if you like.
Let cool, then blend with ca. 100ml of single cream (or less!).
Can add dried chives afterwards if you like.

The first time I made this I pulsed the blender and ended up with a lovely coarse consistency, but that's not for everyone.

Mango salsa - make it as chunky or as fine as you like:
red onion
red chilli
mango
red pepper
lime juice
coriander

Lovely with baked sweet potatoes, or with things like quesadillas, burritos etc - or just with tortilla chips

Loving these thank you.

I used to make a spinach dip, it was a recipe from the US when my DSis lived there. It was frozen spinch, thawed and squeezed out. And packet vegetable soup and mayo and cream cheese. Or something similar to that.

Mango salsa sounds good, love a kick of chili.

What would I do without cream cheese.... Grin
