Cake baking icing question!

ChillySillyBillySausage · 25/07/2019 10:21

Hello, I probably have posted this in the wrong section, but can't find a cookery / baking section!

Does anyone have any advice with stopping the colours from sugar strands/ 100s and 1000s decorations from running when I place them on buns decorated with water icing?

I'm good at getting the icing the right thickness, so it keeps in a nice circle shape on the top, rather than running, so don't think it's a case of making the icing thicker!

Or any suggestions of brands / types of sprinkles that don't run please!

Thank you 😊

I think the colours will always run if the icing is wet. Maybe try when it's almost totally set and see if that helps?

Hi OP

We've moved it for you now. Flowers

I'd suggest letting the icing dry, or topping with cut rolled icing & then add a thin coat of edible glue to the area you want the sprinkles.

You can buy the glue, but it's very cheap if you make your own with Tylose powder & water. I find this works better with sprinkles that colour run
