serves me right for trying to show off and do a delia smith recipe. I followed it correctly but used the same amount of sea salt she said but used table salt. The result is a inedible salt loaded gunk that I can't use. SOOOooo...I have pasta, chicken, mayo, peppers, spring onions, a bit of parma ham, olive oil, balsamic vinegar - I could just stir in mayo to the pasta and add a few veg but I wanted it to be a bit more interesting (though that is nice!) PLEASE, PLEASE help me!

if you have curry paste, mango chutney, raising and apricots, delia has a nice coronation chicken recipe

DANCESwithnewlytannedlegs · 17/06/2007 12:12

Have you any tinned pulses or anything green? Lemon juice? couscous?

Chicken and roasted pepper salad?

Pret a manger's tuna pasta salad is tuna pasta sliced green and red peppers, red onion thinly sliced but you could use spring onion and then dressed with lemon and mayo. If you have black olives add those. It's a meal in itself.

DANCESwithnewlytannedlegs · 17/06/2007 12:15

How do you do the chicken for the roast pepper salad? I can roast the pepper now, no prob...whole or in pieces? MORE DETAILS please...panic...panic...

What peppers do you have ? how many people are you feeding? Is it roast chicken you have? Sliced or chunked?
turn grill on full whilst you type!

Sazisi · 17/06/2007 12:21

get someone to buy some nice fresh pesto and maybe some cherry tomatoes, slightly roast the peppers, onion and tomatoes and mix with the chicken, pasta and pesto.
Or, depending on what you've made, add some potatoe chunks to absorb the salt?

DANCESwithnewlytannedlegs · 17/06/2007 12:22

Grill on! Chicken breasts. Red and green peppers..GO...

Cut peppers into quarter so that you can lay them skin side up flat under a hot hot grill. Grill until they are really burnt. Put them in a bowl and cover with cling film straight away. Leave to cool. Then you can peel them and I would slice them into thinnish strips and mix with the chicken pasta and spring onions.
what else in tins or firdge could go in this salad- I would probably mix a dressing of pesto, lemon juice and olive oil.
Have you pine nuts, gherkins anything in that line. Where is nearest shop???

robinpud · 17/06/2007 12:26

Grill chicken breast also - could put some honey over them to add to flavour but maybe under circumstacnes keep it simple!!

DANCESwithnewlytannedlegs · 17/06/2007 12:27

No pesto. Urm...balsamic wotsit, olive oil no gherkins or anything like that...fresh basil frozen in freezer though...could whizz some up, how do I cook the chicken...off to roast peppers, back in 2 mins - THANKS!

oil on the peppers under the grill?

OP posts:
robinpud · 17/06/2007 12:30

Just put chicken under grill; and cook; leave to cool and slice artistically. If they are very thick breasts you may want to slice them thinner so that they cook quicker.

So for a dressing I would shove some oil, blasamic vinegar and salt and pepper in a jar and shake madly.

do you have mustard and honey? Any other fresh or tinned veg?

robinpud · 17/06/2007 12:30

No oil in pepper just cook until BKLACK

DANCESwithnewlytannedlegs · 17/06/2007 12:32

Yep, have honey, wholegrain mustard, baby sweetcorn (fresh) red onions

DANCESwithnewlytannedlegs · 17/06/2007 12:33

Oh and broccoli, carrots, courgettes and leeks.

OP posts:
Ulysees · 17/06/2007 12:35

Couldn't she just stir fry it all then fold it into the cooked pasta with a dressing? Be quick

robinpud · 17/06/2007 12:35

I would chunk up the baby sweetcorn and throw them in for colour and taste. I like thinly sliced red onions in some salads but not everyone does. I would maybe leave them out and go for the spring onions.

you could do a honey and mustard dressing with the chicken salad esp if you have bacon too and then servie the strips of roasted peppers drizzled with a little oil as a seperate dish entirely.

robinpud · 17/06/2007 12:36
