Wrap and pitta tea ideas for hungry kids after school please!

Has anyone got any quick and easy ideas for kids' tea using wraps and pittas?

They eat most anything really -meat and meat-free. I'd really like some hot recipes rather than cold sandwich-type stuff, but will consider and be ever-grateful obviously for any ideas - ta.

maybe not the most nutritious but my kids like hot dog tortilla wraps, they either have them soft or I pop them in the oven and they crisp up.

other than that we are a tuna salad family

ceolas · 09/05/2007 19:11

chilli is better in pitta as it doesn't fall out the end.

We love chilli in wraps with lettuce and cheese. Really messy though!

Actually I think we'll have that for tea tomorrow

SoupDragon · 09/05/2007 19:13

fajitas? Chicken strips, leeks, I add chopped carrot and other veg , seasoning, fry, bung in a bowl for them to spoon into wraps, sprinkle cheese ontop and wrap up.

Hi my ds loves pitta with falafel, tomato and grated cheese (I sometimes spead guacamole thinly on the pitta.)
Ready in 5 minutes!

tracyk · 09/05/2007 19:15

popsycal · 09/05/2007 19:17

Lizzer · 09/05/2007 19:18

I put hot chicken strips (if I can be bothered then I egg and breadcrumb them) tiny bit of bacon and salad....and for mine I add avocado, yum Works in pitta or wrap.

I also think hot fish finger pitta breads rock!

honeybrown · 09/05/2007 19:21

I'm with popsycal - hummus and grated carrot - very lentil weaver but totally scrummy!

popsycal · 09/05/2007 19:49

HuwEdwards · 09/05/2007 19:50

fish fingers and hot dogs! Now would never have thought of those and they'd love them!. Yep, they love hummous, but that's what I wouldnormally dish up with pittas. Thanks for all the ideas - am going to keep this thread!

Fishfinger and salad with ketchup and some mayo in the salad is my absolute favourite as well as ds.

We have had lamb marinated in Greek yoghurt, cumin, lemon juice and garlic in pittas tonight with salad.

I used to make a lot but haven;t recently, something called chicken zorba that I got off one of those Sainsbury's recipe cards - it's sliced cooked chicken in a pitta with a mix of Greek yoghurt and hummus.

Any kind of Hummus in a pitta.

Sausage pittas.

Greek salad pittas. prawn salad pittas, tuna mayo pittas

Pittas are fab!

PinkChick · 09/05/2007 20:00

we like southern fried chicken, with toms, lettuce, cucumber, cheese and bit of mayo and black pepper..like kentucky but healthier

Twiglett · 09/05/2007 20:04

We do bean mess in wraps, heat oil, chop garlic, stick in pan, chop a couple of tomatoes and add, cook down for 2 mins and add a can of kidney beans and mash down. I serve it with yoghurt with chives, spread over the wraps.
Leftover ratatouille is good too.

popsycal · 09/05/2007 20:09

fajitas....what do you make the sauce with?
think my lot would like them...

Twiglett · 09/05/2007 20:12

popsycal · 09/05/2007 20:14
