There is no difference in the ingredients so why is other O.J. so horrible?
I'm slightly addicted.

Maybe they use riper oranges? Hence sweeter.

spudmasher · 03/05/2007 17:51

Because it is made from special oranges.
(which have addictive properties)

Marina · 03/05/2007 17:51

Oranges vary in quality and some varieties are sweeter and more expensive than other.
If you think Tropicana is nice (which it is) you should try Grove Fresh, which is the best of all IMO

tombley · 03/05/2007 17:53

Where can you buy Grove Fresh?

Addictive Oranges huh? I Knew it!!

Sainsburys & Waitrose I know for a fact
I think Tescos sell it too

colditz · 03/05/2007 19:20

I was hooked on Tropicana whilest pregnant with ds2, only Tropicana would cut the mustard!

PiusIX · 03/05/2007 21:42

Tropicana contains some of the same psychoactive ingredients as crack cocaine.

misdee · 03/05/2007 21:44

its just so sweet and yummiliscious.

tombley · 03/05/2007 21:46

And gram for gram it costs more than crack cocaine. I literally twitch when DH pours himself an enormous glass. I have to remove my self before I scream "do you know how much that stuff costs? and it is MINE!" Not technically true as I buy it with the rest of the shopping but... I don't think he can truly appreciate it.

Very true tombley. Surprised it isn't under lock and key in the supermarket, together with the single malts (or is that just at my local supermarket)

tombley · 03/05/2007 21:52

LOL PiusIX.
DH used to live in such a lovely area when we first met the Nescafe coffee was behind the counter in the corner shop and the off licence was all behind glass and you paid through a petrol station type counter. Goodness only knows what they would have done with Tropicana.

I hate tropicana - I like the cheap tetra pack OJ (I a cheap date!)

tombley - are you smooth or bits girl?

Washersaurus · 03/05/2007 22:00

I was doing an OJ comparison at the breakfast table the other morning, and was pondering on what makes Tropicana so 'special'. I couldn't find any clues on the cartons.

.........I also have an expensive pregnancy related orange juice addiction

tombley · 03/05/2007 22:02

Bits for me.
Kids don't like the bits, so I always buy it

Gingerbear · 03/05/2007 22:04

It is from fresh oranges and pasturised not frozen concentrated OJ imported from Florida

I too am PG and addicted.

WendyWeber · 03/05/2007 22:05

We have friends who visit from California and they fall on Tropicana here like manna, so maybe it's CA oranges?

WendyWeber · 03/05/2007 22:05

Sainsburys fresh orange is only £1.99 now - smooth or bitty - that is lush

Gingerbear · 03/05/2007 22:26

Who was WendyWeber anyhow? (Illiterate here)

WendyWeber · 03/05/2007 22:29

Hi, GB! Looking forward to seeing you & DD next week (unless you have that baby first???)

Wendy was a Posy Simmonds character in the 80s/90s - can't find an image - long hair, specs, liberal and lots of kids (more lefty than me though, and a baker)

Whoooosh · 03/05/2007 22:32

It used to be made from Floridian oranges and it was way better then.
Now,it is purely BRazillian for economic and supply reasons-like many other not from concentrate orange juices-I do know what they do differently but cannot say..r

Gingerbear · 03/05/2007 22:43

Ooh, are you going to YSP? will be good to see you again! I will hopefully be there (possibly on light duties only)

ceolas · 03/05/2007 22:52

Yes, we had Minute Maid tonight and it just wasn't the same!

brimfull · 03/05/2007 22:57

whoosh-come on tell us their secret?
do you drink it?

I can't bear juice from concentrate

WendyWeber · 03/05/2007 22:58

Oh whoosh, please do say - you know we all want to do what's right!!!

Whoooosh · 03/05/2007 23:00

I really can't say-I used to drink it when I thought it was much better-as a tip-try M&S Floridian and see what you think of that-or even the Morrisons Floridian although that is a bit "questionable" too.
