I am having some guests to stay for one night next week. They are arriving late ( after dinner) and leaving after breakfast the next day.

These are friends who have given us some wonderful dinners and hospitality in the past, so even though I've only got one them for one meal I want to spoil them with a lovely spread. Ideas please!

Oh, I, personally, would like a banana too. But that's just me.

OliviaStabler · 21/01/2018 19:30

Ask them.

ThinkingQueSeraSera · 21/01/2018 19:34

I second avo and eggs on sour dough.

Taffeta · 21/01/2018 19:37

My dream breakfast would be either poached eggs on thick granary toast with loads of salted butter

Or

Mushrooms cooked in obscene amounts of butter and thyme seasoned well with thick granary toast on the side

With proper coffee and freshly squeezed OJ

Taffeta · 21/01/2018 19:38

Oh and some tulips or daffs on the table Smile

Taffeta · 21/01/2018 19:40

I love avo and sourdough but for lunch more than breakfast

expatinscotland · 21/01/2018 19:40

Full English.

midsomermurderess · 21/01/2018 19:40

Full English with really good quality sausages and bacon, spanking fresh eggs.

Doilooklikeatourist · 21/01/2018 19:47

Full fat Greek yoghurt and some berries and muesli

I like poached eggs on toast with avocado too , ( and I’m old and live in Wales so definitely not a hipster )

Grilled bacon , local sausages , ( I don’t like sausages , unless I’ve bought them , I only like. Tesco outdoor reared pork chipolatas ) nice grilled tomatoes , free Range eggs
Toast from a proper loaf , real butter and nice jam
Coffee
Maybe freshly squeezed orange juice

notanother11plusmum · 21/01/2018 20:31

baked beans, eggs, bacon

kateandme · 21/01/2018 21:34

few cereals like cornflakes and shreddies and branflakes.
bagels with scrambled egg and smoked salmon.
jam marmalade and marmite.

Grumpbum · 21/01/2018 22:27

My Perfect breakfast would be

Good coffee
Decent white bread, salted butter and marmalade.

Or

Pancakes, maple syrup and crispy bacon

Wh0KnowsWhereTheT1meG0es · 21/01/2018 22:36

Croissants, poached eggs on crusty white bread toast, proper butter, freshly ground salt and pepper, nice cup of tea.

No sweet stuff, no Full English (particularly no sausages, beans, tomatoes, but could manage a bit of bacon), no fancy stuff like avocados or smoked salmon.

Weedsnseeds1 · 22/01/2018 16:58

Full English
Eggs Benedict
Smoked salmon and scrambled egg
Bagels with smoked salmon and cream cheese
A selection of breads with cold meat and cheese

MERLYPUSSEDOFF · 23/01/2018 10:33

I'd do plain croissants with a variety of jam, choc spread etc. (can have on toast too then)

cereal or porridge.

Bacon, sausage, grilled toms, mushrooms and egg of some description.

Toast, juice, T&C

ALickyBoomBoomDown · 23/01/2018 11:41

I'm loving having a 'chefs breakfast' at the moment. It's basically a big bowl of sausage, bacon, diced potatoes, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes and spinach with some caramelised onion chutney stirred through and two poached eggs on top.

I had it at a restaurant and decided to try making it at home. So yummy!

testpickles · 23/01/2018 11:45

Good old fry up with fresh bread/toast ,local sausages/bacon/black pud/eggs.Breakfast tea.

PETRONELLAS · 23/01/2018 11:50

I’d not do a full english you know. Lots of finishing off rather than pre prep and the smell of fried egg lingering all day on my hair and clothes. Yuk. Yes to the quality and local stuff.

mrsnec · 23/01/2018 11:53

How about Huevos Rancheros with wraps or Shackshuka with flatbreads ?

With some lovely fruit and yoghurt too.

One of my favourite breakfasts on holiday was glamping and the host served a vegetable frittata with his own home grown veg and herbs.

FluffyWuffy100 · 23/01/2018 12:55
