Do people like figs?

I'm having friends for dinner and thinking of doing baked spiced figs. But then I wondered if figs were one of those divisive things that some people might hate.

Do you like them? I thought they'd be a good pudding as they're light and (sort of) healthy and the recipe is amazing, but want to canvas opinion before I commit myself!

TIA

I adore figs!
However, I've taken fresh figs into work and several people didn't even know what they were. Confused
Serve them, but get in a Viennetta for the philistines.

Sounds gorgeous. I do love figs though.

Sodaface · 29/10/2017 10:24

Caramailised figs and maple mascarpone is wonderful.
So is figs with pomegranate and hallumi!

wizzywig · 29/10/2017 10:44

I like fig rolls. I bought actual figs once but didnt know what to do with it. Do i peel and scoop?

notacooldad · 29/10/2017 10:44

I love figs. The only thing that would put me off is the ginger!

AccrualIntentions · 29/10/2017 10:45

I love them and that sounds delicious!

Flimp · 29/10/2017 10:45

It doesn’t matter if we like them, ask your guests!

Eminybob · 29/10/2017 10:46

I don’t really get figs, I don’t think I’ve ever had one apart from the dried version.
Do you eat the whole thing? I think they look like only the middle is worth eating and the outside looks like it would be tough and flavourless Grin

Eminybob · 29/10/2017 10:47

That was suppsvto be Confused not Grin

I love love LOVE figs. My favourite starter is baked in the oven with blue cheese (Roquefort for preference) and a drizzle of honey.

PinkHeart5914 · 29/10/2017 11:32

get in a Viennetta for the philistines 😂

I love figs either as a starter with goats cheese & salad or Gorgonzola and walnuts or as dessert with mascarpone.

I often make a flatbread topped with Brie, figs, pancetta and rocket for bring and share lunches and there’s never been any left to take Home at the end. So I reckon they will go down fine.

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 29/10/2017 13:28

I love figs, as long as they are good ones (plump, sweet, richly coloured, not too much pith).

allegretto · 29/10/2017 13:30

I really don't like them. DH loves them so much that it is embarrassing sitting near him while he is eating them - the groans of pleasure can get a bit much! I would eat them if you gave them to me at a dinner party though, rude not to!

allegretto · 29/10/2017 13:31

They are out of season at the moment though so not sure if you'll be able to get them!

BananaSandwichesEveryDay · 29/10/2017 13:32

Personally, I can't abide them. Which is a shame as my sister has a dig tree in her garden and every year she ends up with so many that she just can't use them all.

BuzzKillington · 29/10/2017 13:36

Love them.

Baked in oven, wrapped in parma ham with blue cheese and rocket - my favourite starter.

Hoppinggreen · 29/10/2017 13:45

I want some figs now

WhoKn0wsWhereTheSlimeGoes · 29/10/2017 14:08

I don't think I've ever had one, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't like this recipe, I don't generally like spiced fruit, especially not with ginger. Blue cheese and rocket with them sounds divine though.

ScarletSienna · 29/10/2017 14:10

I used to. Until I found out about the wasps. Now I can’t get that out of my mind so no!

Etymology23 · 29/10/2017 14:10

As dessert poached in red wine with ice cream they are delish! Love em!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 29/10/2017 16:27

Love figs. I'd be over the moon if you served me that.

Chewbecca · 29/10/2017 18:21

Yes to figs, no to ginger
