What's your children's favourite meal?

OK, for tea tonight my kids had a bowlful of brown pasta twirls, topped with finely grated mature cheddar, to which I added a smiley face using tomato ketchup. This is their favourite meal and takes about 5mins to make which makes it my favourite too! They would have it every day if they could.

Anyone else's kids have a particular favourite?

Ds1 would eat pasta for breakfast , dinner and tea if he could. Ds2 is exactly the same, although he prefers his pasta to be mixed with peas. Neither of them are keen on chips.

neetsmassi · 17/07/2004 19:01

sausage and pasta from a tin and carrots - every day and every meal if she could!

Hulababy · 17/07/2004 19:02

My DD (2y 3m) would eat sausgaes for every meal, in any shape or form. Her altogether favourite is sausgae, mash, peas and sweetcorn with a tiny bit of gravy. But she also adores hot dogs, cooked cooked picnic sausgaes, sausage and chips, etc... anything so long as it involves sausage.

After that it is a bowl of plain pasta, drissled in a bit of olive oil and topped with grated cheese. The Italian downstairs from us makes her a bowl of this everytime we go - free of charge - as they know she loves it so much.

Miaou · 17/07/2004 19:11

Hula, you have an Italian downstairs?

Yes Also have a fab South American/mexican one, a noodle bar, a coffee shop (which also sells the most fantastic desserts), and a Revolution bar - get those cocktails flowing. We also have some clothes shops, a platinum jellewers and a coup,le pf modern, designer type furniture places. I love it here

Be afraid, Hula! Be VERY afraid!

Hulababy · 17/07/2004 19:25

Honest - just give us an e-mail to check I am in!

Just need to get someone to serve sausages for DD downstairs and we never have to eat in again!

Miriam2 · 17/07/2004 19:31

Dd's is daddy's shepherds pie (strangely, not mine) and the other day ds (admittedly fickle) said his was fresh tuna and noodles- like he's gonna get that every day.

Oh and he's partial to a Yorkshire Pudding!

Miaou · 17/07/2004 19:34

Coppertop - you're being a Blue Meanie again!!

It's interesting to see that most (if not all) the replies so far include pasta!

What is it about pasta? My four children all have different favourite meals (of course, they would, wouldn't they? I suspect they got together and planned it like that just to make it harder for me) but ds2's favourite is macaroni cheese and they all rate spaghetti bolognese either as their favourite or near the top of their favourite list.

Slinky · 17/07/2004 20:24

Mine are pasta fans too! Older 2 love lasagne and all 3 want Spag. bol every night Pasta spirals with a tomato/basil sauce topped with cheese always goes down well too.

Other faves - DD1 - sausage casserole, DS1 - roast dinner with trimmings, and DD2 - garlic chicken.

enid · 17/07/2004 20:25

Dd1 - chicken and chick pea curry with rice
dd2 - chocolate, or failing that, sheperds pie.

lydialemon · 17/07/2004 23:48

DS1 (6) - Chicken Fajitas

DS2 (4) - Mince and pasta with grated cheese (very important bit!)

Both love 'chickenandrice' which is usually curry, but can be any chicken in sauce dish!

Favourite pudding is 'Pudding' otherwise known as instant whip.

Have you ever seen an 18 month old screeching OLIVES at the top of her lungs until they arrive on her plate. Both of mine love any and all types of olives.
Dd likes fish of all types and ds loves chicken. They both love brocolli and courgettes (boiled, dressed with lemon, olive oil, garlic and salt). They both love salami and parmesan.

skerriesmum · 18/07/2004 10:40

DS 17 months likes most things but these days can't get enough of fish fingers, smoked mackerel(!) and rice (not together.) Loves green grapes too.

skerriesmum · 18/07/2004 10:41

Funny SofiaAmes, he loves olives too! Likes salty things more than sweet.

twogorgeousboys · 18/07/2004 10:57

bran flakes and milk (no sugar), followed by kiwi fruit. He call it "brown breakfast". Asks for it all the time, but only gets it in the morning.

Bunglie · 18/07/2004 11:05

Sofia have you room for another, I love olives but dh doesn't so I never get them....
My ds used to eat french mustard out of the jar when I wasn't looking, yuk!
