Jamie's new series....

Anyone else watching? Honestly, I do like his recipes and, more importantly, his ideas. I find that a lot of his tips and hints are great and some of the things I've cooked based pn his recipes are pretty much standard for me now. I am loving the new series though even more than any previous ones and I'm looking forward to trying some of those dishes. Is anyone else watching? has anyone tried them? The yoghurt/ flour flat bread....?!

Which channel is it on?

paradoxicalInterruption · 29/08/2017 16:12

There was a thread on here about the flat bread recently - apparently its lovely and life changing.

WorkingBling · 29/08/2017 16:13

The steak looked so amazing he made - I like the idea of cooking one huge steak and serving slices of it between a few.

WorkingBling · 29/08/2017 16:17

I'm happy with how I cook steak it am definitely doing the bean and mushrooms to serve it with.

I can't find it? I've got a Place in The Sun on my channel 4!

newmumFeb17 · 29/08/2017 16:30

Yep I've made the flatbread twice since last week, and we're having it again tonight! It's so easy and so tasty!

mommybunny · 29/08/2017 17:28

We're enjoying it. Steak is one of DS12's favourite meals in the whole world and I told him I would buy the ingredients for last week's steak dinner and almond tart if he would make it. Both courses were fabulous and he said he'd definitely do it again.

He had a little trouble with the puff pastry on the almond tart as despite our best efforts it kept sticking to the parchment (it was a hot day) but we put it in the freezer after every few rolls to firm up and it came out great.

I know I'll eventually buy the book but I want the price to come down first...

Just made flatbread. Raging success. Ds enjoyed making it and ds enjoyed eating it. So did I (although I am supposed to be no carbing at night. Oops.).

Planning on getting the book for DH for Christmas (he loves Jamie's books), hopefully the price will have come down by then.

FrenchRoast · 30/08/2017 17:40

I always cook steak in one big piece but I liked the rosemary slant. Dd has offered to make the scallops this weekend. I like this approach to cooking his other fast cookbooks were too busy.

Fekko · 30/08/2017 17:41

Why does he keep gazing off and upwards into the distance? What's up there??

AtleastitsnotMonday · 30/08/2017 19:17

Could anyone post the recipe for the flat breads?

FrenchRoast · 30/08/2017 19:40

He annoying and a bit over enthusiastic but surprisingly compared to other big name chefs so many of his recipes have become family favourites over the years, will try the yoghurt bread tomorrow too!

FrenchRoast · 30/08/2017 19:42

I thought the flat breads were just self raising flour, salt and yoghurt. Mix to a dough, dry fry.

Fekko · 30/08/2017 20:00

I liked the look of the tuna and the meatballs.

MusicToMyEars800 · 30/08/2017 20:03

I like the look of all of it, It is good for simplicity and quickness, but I don't own a food processor and he uses it for just about everything Angry

FrenchRoast · 30/08/2017 20:13

And I really do not need another cookbook - I'm an addict and they know exactly how to draw me in!

friedeggsand · 31/08/2017 08:16

Haven't cooked anything yet but I've got the book and am excitedly planning for next weeks meal plan... his last book is a favorite of mine and I find you pick up loads of tips from watching the shows

mommybunny · 31/08/2017 08:53

friedeggs was that the Super Foods book? I just found it on Book People for £6.99 which is a reasonable price (5 Ingredients is £11.99).

FrenchRoast · 31/08/2017 09:00

Five Ingredients down to £11 on amazon. I'm holding off till I see more of the series.

WorkingBling · 31/08/2017 10:46

Here are all the recipes from the show so far. Flatbread really is dead simple. www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/category/books/5-ingredients-quick-easy-food-recipes/

mommybunny no the book we are talking about is the 5 Ingredients - quick and easy food.

It feels more similar to some of his earlier books in terms of style but with easier and simpler recipes. HIs recent 30 minute and 15 minute meal books were too complicated I think.
