How has my life come to this, that I am posting a thread about a teabag?

But would love to know what's a good, strong tasty everyday teabag. I like Twinings Assam or Everyday, but it's pricey. PG Tips and Tetley ok, but DH didn't like them. Currently on Tesco red label and it's tasteless. Didn't like Yorkshire.

What shall I try next? Brew

Clipper Organic or Sainsburys Taste the Difference Assam for me.

I find PG Tips, Tetley and Twinings Assam all tasteless

Lidl red label teabags for everyday use.

Loose leaf tea, Fortnum and Mason Royal Blend, M&S Rwandan, specialist Russian Caravan, Keenum, Kenyan, Potting Shed for indulgent afternoons.

EveryoneTalkAboutPopMusic · 10/05/2017 14:03

I'm a Lidl tea drinker too.

GnarlyOldGoatDude · 10/05/2017 17:05

Lovely thank you, a few to try Smile

"Yorkshire tea for hard water". Fab: everything else tastes insipid....and we don't even have hard water.

Blondie1984 · 10/05/2017 17:38

I like Yorkshire Gold

noblegiraffe · 10/05/2017 17:42

You haven't mentioned Typhoo, which is my tea of choice out of the normal brands. Much nicer than the others. My local Sainsbury's don't sell it so I make a special trip to Asda!

friskybivalves · 10/05/2017 17:43

I second Yorkshire Gold. Not the ordinary Yorks. They're nasty.

GnarlyOldGoatDude · 10/05/2017 19:30

Tried the Yorkshire for hard water, and didn't like it I'm afraid, or the normal Yorkshire.

Haven't tried Typhoo for a while, might try that.

Will definitely try Lidl red label and Sainsbury's Assam. Thank you!

Marks and Spencer Extra Strong - most others tasteless in comparison; suffices for my 1 pint mug! Also pretty cheap.

butterybiscuitbassx · 10/05/2017 22:58

Clipper tea is lovely!!

thesunwillout · 10/05/2017 23:00

Thompsons Punjana tea, in red packet. You have to let it brew a bit longer but it's really refreshing and not bitter. Morrisons.

GnarlyOldGoatDude · 10/05/2017 23:00

Wow a pint of tea Shock that sounds heavenly

I second clipper organic. Do have to put 2 in my pint mug though, but I do like it strong.

Pint mugs are totally fabby! Mine are from highland stoneware and are gorgeous, had them years, 1 at work and 1 at home. I looooovvveee my tea.

BenjaminLinus · 11/05/2017 19:37

Aldi English Breakfast, not quite as nice as Twinings, but a lot cheaper.

Daffydil · 11/05/2017 19:39

Sainsbury's TtD Ceylon or English breakfast in our house.

Waitrose Ceylon at my mums.

kel1493 · 11/05/2017 19:40

I only have tetley, so can't help. But I hope you find a nice one

quince2figs · 11/05/2017 22:12

My pint mug is from Emma Bridgewater. Very much recommended!

ephemeralfairy · 11/05/2017 22:24

DP loves Punjana tea. If I buy anything else he point blank refuses to drink it. The cupboard is full of rejected teas.
It is very nice. I also like Clipper and TeaDirect, although not seen the latter for ages.
Agree that most supermarket own brands are usually very good.

This is an interesting thread, almost walked on by thinking it would be a herbal discussion. We are Yorkshire tea through and through here, and thought we had reached the ultimate. But my eyes have been opened to try others, clipper is getting a fair few mentions...,

GnarlyOldGoatDude · 11/05/2017 22:38

Thanks everyone, my taste tests are going to take months at this rate!! Wish they did really small packets Smile

Pg tips gold. Hate the standard ones. Gold are great.

RhuBarbarella · 11/05/2017 22:42

Ridgeway organic, I'm not sure how readily available it is but it's really good. I get it at our local health food shop.
