Courgette watch!

I've been struggling to find courgettes locally, and thought it was just a local supply issue. Turns out there is apparently a national courgette shortage. So, stealth boast time - are courgettes plentiful where you are and will you post to Gtr Manchester

I can't find any either! I'm in Hampshire. So annoyed, I want to make courgette spaghetti!

TondelayaDellaVentamiglia · 18/01/2017 12:56

heard this on the radio yesterday...something about a spanish shortage due to bad weather i think.

no courgetti spaghetti!!

Vistaverde · 18/01/2017 12:57

Cold weather in Spain and Italy has led to a poorer harvest than usual. More here:-

SasBel · 18/01/2017 13:32

Nope, even my trusty local grocery only had a few. NE.

OverScentedFanjo · 18/01/2017 13:34

They are easy to grow and taste nicer than shop ones. Think of the food miles.

WhatAPigsEar · 18/01/2017 13:39

I've got some in the fridge

TheFlis12345 · 18/01/2017 13:40

Loads in my local Tesco (South London) at the weekend.

WingMirrorSpider · 18/01/2017 13:42

I've got three massive Ines in the fridge (not a euphemism).

WendyIsMyName · 18/01/2017 13:43

None on ocado

Scribblegirl · 18/01/2017 13:44

TheFlis, I'm jealous, I'm in SE25 and couldn't find them for love nor money last weekend! Even Sainsburys online refused to deliver them... I want to make minestrone soup Sad

insomniaat4am · 18/01/2017 13:45

I've had spiralized courgette the last 3 weeks. Both Morrisons and Aldi have plenty of it here.

usernamealreadytaken · 18/01/2017 13:59

OverScented I grew loads over the summer, but cold, dark and damp Manchester in January is not ideal Sad

Ocado is short here in the south east. I thought it was all the clean eaters.

Laska5772 · 18/01/2017 14:03

Get ye over to Sainsburys Isle of Wight .. they had loads in just now (and I didnt buy any ).. but we are a bit behind the times here.. !! Grin

pishedoff · 18/01/2017 14:57

Loads in Tescos yesterday !

I'm north Hampshire

FurryDogMother · 18/01/2017 15:10

My Ocado (in the south east) is showing no fewer than 11 different options for courgettes.

usernamealreadytaken · 18/01/2017 16:12

Laska would love to, but just a tad too far from Manchester!

OP posts:
tumpymummy · 18/01/2017 16:36

I had no idea! Am in Bristol and havent noticed a shortage at all! Even chucked some away last night that had been reduced and we didn't eat in time. Sorry!

AliceInHinterland · 18/01/2017 19:22

Most of the options are out of stock for me apart from mini ones and Ocado own brand. Can't get an organic one.

HandbagFan · 18/01/2017 21:34

I have two in my fridge (cost me about £1 each last week!) and no idea what to do with them. Must not end up in the bin, but my usual ways with a courgette don't seem worthy of its increased rareity!

BIWI · 18/01/2017 21:36

I couldn't buy any today - nothing in my local Tesco Express or Sainsbury's Local.

ShoeJunkie · 18/01/2017 21:41

Haven't been able to get them for the last couple of weeks on my Tesco online shop.

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 18/01/2017 21:56

I'd love to help but unfortunately I only clicked on this to find out how courgettes could tell the time.

AtleastitsnotMonday · 18/01/2017 22:37

Another one in Hampshire and I've had no problem. I love courgette so will be gutted if they become scarce.
