That DH has asked if you have any more recipes that are so yummy, they dont have to be cake recipes... savory ones will be great. Anything that is really delicious.

Sherlock - my cake mixer doesn't have an on switch - it consists of a plank of wood powered by elbow grease!!!

I do have one of those big braun/moulinex food processor jobies that I use for chopping sometimes. Can i use that to make cakes - have never tried. Which attachment would I use? The metal blade, the plastic blade, the whipping plate [stupid thick emoticon - picks would be good!!!]. Would save some elbow grease.

She is in Blackpool salsa ing her ass off.

SherlockLGJ · 02/02/2007 16:50

I would have thought the plastic one, but don't quote me.

Have a look at your destruction manual.

NbgsYellowFeathers · 02/02/2007 16:50

I have no idea lgj.
Lets bear in mind the first time i made it, i substituted margarine for oil, baking powder for bicarb and had 2 eggs instead of 4 but it was still gorgeous.

It tasted totally rank. I wouldnt mind but I went to the shop to buy all the ingreadiants too! So it was all fresh.

SlightlyMadScientist · 02/02/2007 16:51

Can anyone tell me where my instruction manual is please?

Flumpytina · 02/02/2007 16:52

SMS I used my food processor with the metal blade, worked a treat.

SherlockLGJ · 02/02/2007 16:52

Flumpytina · 02/02/2007 16:53

Is it in the drawer on the left under all the elastic bands, sellotape and biros?

SherlockLGJ · 02/02/2007 16:53

SlightlyMadScientist · 02/02/2007 17:19

Am just adding the recipe here - for completeness

There wouldn't happen to be any other versions hiding away would there? Coffee maybe?

SlightlyMadScientist · 02/02/2007 17:20

Oops forgot the recipe

Here you go . Cut and pasted from an earlier thread: INGREDIENTS 9 oz sugar 9 oz butter 12 oz self-rising flour 4 eggs 3 t baking powder 6 Tbsp milk grated rind from 2 lemons juice from these lemons separately METHOD Preheat oven to 325 degrees/Gas Mark 3/170C/ Mix all the ingredients together in the mixer except for lemon juice. Bake in 9 X 11 (or 13) baking dish. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes until knife comes out clean. While the cake is baking, squeeze the juice from the lemons and heat for 20 seconds or so in the microwave. Set at least one tablespoon aside to drizzle into the cake when it comes out of the oven. Take the balance of the warm lemon juice and add icing sugar (confectioners sugar) to consistency you like. As soon as you take the cake from the oven, prick cake with fork and pour over the reserved warm lemon juice. Next, spread the icing over the cake to finish it off
