That DH has asked if you have any more recipes that are so yummy, they dont have to be cake recipes... savory ones will be great. Anything that is really delicious.

There is far too much detail in that recipe, that is not it.

SherlockLGJ · 02/02/2007 17:26

It is really but it is not the one Mars posts.

bigknickersbigknockers · 02/02/2007 18:10

SlightlyMadScientist · 03/02/2007 08:54

Sprry to be a pain - can I have some carification regarding the order of the following events:

Remove from oven (I know this is first before you shout!!!)
Remove from tin
Prick & drizzle with lemon juice
Top with icing
Cool
Eat (Know thi si last)

Sorry to be a pain - but Mars instructions are a bit.......

Brief

SlightlyMadScientist · 03/02/2007 14:21

SherlockLGJ · 03/02/2007 14:22

Vague is the word.....

SherlockLGJ · 03/02/2007 14:22

But what is the question ??

SlightlyMadScientist · 03/02/2007 14:24

Can you put the folloowing list in the right order please?

Remove from oven (I know this is first before you shout!!!)
Remove from tin
Prick & drizzle with lemon juice
Top with icing
Cool
Eat (Know thi si last)

SherlockLGJ · 03/02/2007 14:28

That order is fine.

This cake really is foolproof, so don't worry about the order too much.

I tend to remove, cool slightly, I don't do juice straight in (but this is just me) I then prick and cover with gloopy icing sugar made with the warm lemon juice.

SlightlyMadScientist · 03/02/2007 14:32

TY - my kitchen (and hands) smell fab at the moment.

I will send you a virtual slice

SlightlyMadScientist · 03/02/2007 15:56

Cake

Drizzle

bigknickersbigknockers · 03/02/2007 19:12

what happened to the drizzle scientist?

OP posts:
SlightlyMadScientist · 03/02/2007 19:33

Far too runny (& I ran out of icing sugar to thicken). Tasted bad. The cake was like a mountain. About 3inches high in the middle, less than an inch at the sides so it would have run straight off. Cakes OK w/o it so I have thrown the icing away. Going to try a lemon syrup recipe to top it next time.

Moulinex was fab tho

tenbygirl · 04/02/2007 15:44

Thanks Sherlock - I will just bung a lot in

foxtrot · 04/02/2007 21:34

Marslady, finally made my first lemon drizzle cake today (one in a loaf tin and a dozen muffins). What can i say but...divine

soundbites · 05/02/2007 09:53

I made it on Saturday for the first time (baby is 5 days overdue so I have time on my hands to try all those recipes I have meaning to try), served it to the in-laws for tea yesterday, and it is fabulous. Will become a firm favourite. Thanks MarsLady.

bigknickersbigknockers · 05/02/2007 18:51

just made the choc version and its delicious.. although it has sunk a bit in the middle but the only reason i can think for this happening is that i kept opening the oven door near the end of the cooking time to see if it was ready. still yummy though.
