Unusual toastie fillings?

So I know there's standard toasties fillings, I personally eat almost daily Cheese and Red Onion in mine, but I was wondering if anyone had anything you wouldn't normally add?

For example, I've put leftover Bolognese in before which actually came out brilliantly, so anyone have any other ideas? I'll eat most things except the devil's food mushrooms Grin

Red onion, houmous, and rocket. It's delicious!

AverageGayLad · 12/08/2016 03:22

I'll certainly try that!

I don't think I've ever had guacamole...

Mincemeat, either on it's own or with grated Apple. ( Mince pies at Xmas type mincemeat). Lovely served with ice cream.

Banana and jam. But let it cool before you eat it, the jam will be hotter than the sun.

Someone bought me a subscription to CheesePosties and they do some very strange, but very excellent fillings: cheeseposties.com/the-cheeseboard

Forgot to add! A toastie with soft goats cheese, chopped walnuts and a drizzle of honey is probably the greatest thing on earth

THirdEeye · 12/08/2016 09:28

Brie and bacon

Goats cheese and red onion chutney (or chilli jam)

1frenchfoodie · 12/08/2016 15:20

Chicken tikka. Lovely dipped in some minty yoghurt.

Marshmallows, glace cherries and chocolate buttons. Serve with ice cream.

TroysMammy · 12/08/2016 15:23

Ham, cheese, spring onions, scrambled egg.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 12/08/2016 15:25

Sliced pear and blue cheese

Captainkanga · 12/08/2016 15:26

Nutella, peanut butter and sliced banana

AmserGwin · 12/08/2016 15:26

I once had a mushy peas toastie as a skint student, but I wouldn't recommend it

AtleastitsnotMonday · 12/08/2016 15:26

There's a postal order service for toasties?! That's genius!

SwearyInn · 12/08/2016 15:28

Haggis and cheddar

Hoppinggreen · 12/08/2016 22:54

Mozzarella and anchovy

cdtaylornats · 13/08/2016 12:00

If you are doing the toastie in one of those Breville type machines then chocolate or jam - its a bit like pop tarts

Cookingongas · 14/08/2016 18:25

Leftover chilli, cheese and avacado. Best toastie on earth.

Beans and cheese

Cheese ham and chutney

Strawberries and Nutella

You can make triangular sponge too. Just make up cake batter and pour in. Far too easy and fattening.

SimplyNigella · 14/08/2016 18:30

Ham, cheese and pineapple- a Hawaiian pizza in toastie form.

Vajazzler · 14/08/2016 18:32

Hotdogs beans and cheese!

BikeRunSki · 14/08/2016 18:34

I had a flat mate once who used to put beans in, name a little hollow and crack an egg into the hollow.

kennycat · 14/08/2016 19:55

I have cream cheese in mine and then have the crusty bits of actual cheese from the children's toasties. Sliced mushrooms sometimes go in. Basically anything leftover from the fridge.
I wonder if pate would be nice; anyone tried it.

I'm just thinking of sweeter options and I'm wondering if cream cheese and lemon curd or jam would be nice. Cc and jam is nice on a normal sandwich so I bet it would.

Ooooh you buggers, now I'm hungry!

Cheese and lime pickle is my favourite after an old housemate introduced me to them. Much nicer than it sounds, especially of you can find a properly spicy lime pickle.
