I bake for a living but aside from that, courgette and cheddar loaf!!! Soooo delicious.

HerRoyalNotness · 20/08/2016 16:14

I'm in the middle of making caramelised onion cheese scones. We were supposed to have visitors today but they're now not coming. I'm the only one that will eat them (DH away and fussy DC). They'll mostly end up in the bin Sad

Fuckingmoles · 20/08/2016 16:15

I've just baked a banana loaf and now wondering whether to freeze it in slices or share it with friends tomorrow

Justwanttoweeinpeace · 20/08/2016 16:21

Ice-cream cake.

It slayed!

Fuckingmoles · 20/08/2016 16:25

BendydickCuminsnatch. Can you post the recipe?

mogloveseggs · 20/08/2016 16:26

Haha seal they look rubbish but taste good Smile
moles share it, but make sure you eat at least two big slices yourself to check it's ok Grin

GodImbored · 20/08/2016 16:27

I made a corned beef pie and it was very nice if I say so myself.

Don't know what to do with the rest of the pastry.

mogloveseggs · 20/08/2016 16:29

HerRoyal can you not freeze them?

BendydickCuminsnatch · 20/08/2016 16:30

this one fuckingmoles! So good

TondelayaDellaVentamiglia · 20/08/2016 16:31

i've not done much baking, I am saving myself for the bake off challenges. I hope they are good this year, last year's were shite...stupid arlettes and madeira cake!

I do have some double choc shortbread biscuits waiting to be cooked, but they can wait till tomorrow now

Fuckingmoles · 20/08/2016 16:33

BendydickCuminsnatch. Thank you - looks delicious

1frenchfoodie · 23/08/2016 08:22

Tondelaya are you planning to follow all the Bake off challenges? I doubt I have all the tins needed but I'm tempted. On maternity leave so for once I have the time naps/feeding allowing.

Made some 'buckeyes' last week - increadibly moreish peanut butter and chocolate balls - and have some horlicks cookie dough in the fridge to bake later.

Wigeon · 23/08/2016 08:33

drspouse - you need Soupdragon's flapjack recipe, often posted on here (Soupdragon being the poster's name) - the best flapjacks, never fall apart:

250g porridge oats
150g buttter
2 tbsps golden syrup
Half a small tin condensed milk (this is the secret to getting them stick together)
Plus anything lik raisins, seeds, dried fruit etc which you fancy. Or not.

Melt butter. Melt golden syrup into butter. Pour in condensed milk. Boil for a bit to get it caramelly (prob only for a minute or so). Add oats plus raisins etc if using. Bake for 15 mins on 160C. YUM!

And to answer the thread: this week I have made banana muffins (to use up blackening bananas) and am amazing variation on Millionaire's Shortbread from the Green & Blacks cookbook which involves a peanutty base, caramel middle and Maya Gold chocolate topping (Green & Blacks choc which is flavoured with orange and spices).

drspouse · 23/08/2016 21:41

Widgeon thank you!

woodhill · 23/08/2016 21:48

LemonRedwood · 23/08/2016 21:52

Chocolate peanut butter cake - just waiting for DH to get home before slicing into it!

What have you baked today/this week?
NotPennysBoat · 23/08/2016 21:56

Widgeon your millionaires shortbread recipe sounds amazing, would you mind sharing it?
My dd finishes nursery this week, so I'll be making a huge batch of choc chip peanut butter cookies from Hummingbird cookbook as a leaving gift for all the staff. Must rigidly taste test them first of course...!

Wigeon · 24/08/2016 07:51

Here it is, NotPenny: Not Millionaire's Shortbread. The picture on that blog is a big beige - mine looked more like classic Millionaire's Shortbread with the nice distinctive layers.

Although the base is just peanuts (and eggs), it was more biscuity with a peanut flavour than unrelenting biscuit, in a good way.

GBBO tonight!!

Wigeon · 24/08/2016 07:57

I mean it wasn't unrelenting peanut!

drspouse · 26/08/2016 20:04

Just got some oatmeal choc chip cookies in the oven.
Had to hand mix them as my crappy mixer gave up the ghost.
I have no room for a Kitchen Aid type stand mixer - what hand held ones are good?

insan1tyscartching · 08/10/2016 16:47
