I know this has probably been done a dozen times, forgive me Blush

I'd like to buy a kitchenaid .. what exactly do they do? I make cakes, meringues etc, pastry, bread. Is it worth it?

She has arrived and I have made a Devils food cake and chocolate butter cream frosting! I never make icing because it's such a bloody faff but today I did and it was sooooo easy. The DC have decorated it so it looks like a cow pat with sprinkles but you can't have everything. Will eat tomorrow :)

Dh is impressed, the dc's have gone nuts about it and it looks rather gorgeous in my kitchen.

I did catch myself giving it a bit of a stroke while it was mixing Blush but I have resisted licking it. Except the paddle. Mmmmmm.

Oh moving you were quick off the mark. I admired mine for over a day before I could bake in it Blush

What recipe did you use for your devil's food cake?

Grin Cow pat with sprinkles Grin

It was the one in here: realfood.tesco.com/recipes/hummingbird-chocolate-cupcakes.html

For a cake double the quantity and split into two sandwich tins (8 inch prob better than 7). Or if you can't be bothered like me, make the quantity as per the cupcake recipe then put into a tin for cowpat cake. I think I baked it for about 20 mins. Maybe 25.

The icing is 150g icing sugar, 20g cocoa, 50g butter blended then add 100g cream cheese and beat for 5 mins. That will be enough for a sandwiched cake. It's a bit too much for a cow pat cake but eating extra icing is no hardship is it? Grin

I will put a pic on my profile for a day.

I think know for a fact I may like cow pats Grin

I have no idea how to see someone's profile Blush

Don't worry. I have no idea how to make it visible! I give up.

Cow pat cake is demolished. Just wondering what to whip up next. I feel like a total chump beating stuff by hand for years. Although at least if I'm even on GBBO and they take away all the whizzy stuff and say "here's some flour, butter, sugar, eggs and a lemon get on with it" I'll be fine Grin

Couple of questions ...

  1. Is it supposed to make a clicking sound when mixing bread and pastry?
  1. Which is best, the food processor or the cone slicer? From what I've read they're both just the same.
