We have 10 adults and 10 kids coming on Easter monday. This is what I plan to offer:

chilli
sausage casserole and some plain sausages
jacket spuds
french bread
pizzas (for kids)
crudite
dips

What do you think?

Sounds lovely! I assume you've got no vegetarians or anybody who might announce as they arrive that they're now gluten-free or some other spanner in the works? Would it be worth having a cheeseboard as well - check it's vegetarian cheese, if you do decide to bother, ie doesn't contain rennet. A fruit bowl as well?

ecuse · 29/03/2015 18:44

Sounds yum. As asked to critique, I would prefer rice with chilli, would hope for sour cream and grated cheese to go on top and would prefer a bit of salad to crudités. But I wouldn't be at all unhappy with the list you set out.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 29/03/2015 18:45

Sounds good, if no veggies.

I'd add a bowl of green salad and another of coleslaw.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 29/03/2015 18:45

Bowl of cheese and some soured cream too.

I'd lose the crudites and dips.

AuntJaneMarple · 29/03/2015 18:50

I would agree with sour cream and cheese.

froomeonthebroom · 29/03/2015 18:51

Thanks guys. Forgot to put cheese in my list and I will definitely get sour cream. It's a group of friends who we get together with fairly often and the crudites and dips seem to disappear with the dcs!

No veggies, but one couple are very plain eaters so that's why I thought I'd do sausage casserole.

Like the coleslaw idea too. Smile

Yum! Big up here for lots of salad too :) otherwise fab!

Cherriesandapples · 29/03/2015 18:55

I wouldn't bother with the sausage casserole but would have bolognaise & pasta & rice instead!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 29/03/2015 18:58

I'd lose the sausage casserole tbh, and do the chilli plus a big pan of sausages.

froomeonthebroom · 29/03/2015 18:59

The reason I haven't gone with bolognaise is that the fussier eaters won't eat it. I thought at least with sausage casserole they could pick out the bits they don't like iyswim!

I am open to ideas for another plainish dish to replace the casserole. Smile

A big quiche? That with bread, salad, coleslaw and spuds would be more than fine for those who don't want chilli.

SnotQueen · 29/03/2015 19:02

Yummy.
But I'd drop sausages and just put out bowls of jacket potato fillings.
And salad.

SnotQueen · 29/03/2015 19:03

What's for pudding?

AuntJaneMarple · 29/03/2015 19:03

What about chicken legs and sausages?

BIWI · 29/03/2015 19:04

Where on earth is the veg or the salad?

Jackieharris · 29/03/2015 19:04

I'm a fussy eater. I'd want the pizza.

Why is pizza only ever for kids?

I don't like spicy food so no chilli and I've never tried sausage casserole so wouldn't start at a party.

But that just me. It's probably fine really.

froomeonthebroom · 29/03/2015 19:04

OK will definitely do salad! Grin

Again quiche is no good for the fussy couple.

froomeonthebroom · 29/03/2015 19:05

The others will bring puddingGrin

OP posts:
RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 29/03/2015 19:06

Oh let the fussy ones eat the pizza and the plain sausages then. No point going to loads of faff for them! Or give them some baked beans to have with their jacket potatoes. :)

froomeonthebroom · 29/03/2015 19:07

DH is now saying I should make coronation chicken. He can bugger off Grin

Remus, you sound like my kind of person

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 29/03/2015 19:09

:)

Blurgh to Coronation chicken - might as well just serve up a bowl of vomit.

Lucked · 29/03/2015 19:10

What about a chicken and tomato pasta bake for the plain meal, I think that would also be a good alternative for the kids.
