Lining cake tin with foil??

Does anyone have any idea why Mary Berry is suggesting I line a tray bake tin with foil?? I've never used, or even heard of using, foil to line a cake tin before and can't imagine why it would be better than baking parchment?

Slight thread hijack - but has anyone ever used one of those cake tin sprays? I find lining cake tins such a faff and would love to be able to skip it, but it goes against everything I've ever been taught not to do it!
