What to cook for 10 hungry boys sleeping over?

Boys are all 10 or 11 yrs old and I'm fed up with making pizza!! Was thinking of big dish of pasta or lasagne and garlic bread with loads of ice-cream and popcorn for later but a bit dull. Any more inspired suggestions? A couple of fussy eaters amongst the crowd but you can't please everybody

Lasagne.

trinityrhino · 05/10/2006 09:57

fajitas?

they can put them together themselves

creepydazy · 05/10/2006 09:59

My god they all sleep over??? Are you crazy woman??

oliveoil · 05/10/2006 10:00

I think your pasta and garlic bread stuff sounds great, I don't think 10 year old boys will be bothered tbh.

Are you mad taking on 10 of them??????!!!!!!!

creepydazy · 05/10/2006 10:00

Great minds think alike Olive

womblingalong · 05/10/2006 10:02

I think pasta and garlic bread sounds great, or would agree with fajitas, or mild chilli con carne, with tortilla chips, cheese, salady stuff so they can make their own nachos?

oxocube · 05/10/2006 10:02

Ooh for got about that Trinity. My kids love it. But God, the mess!! All that grated cheese and soured cream (shudders at thought!!) Could go the whole hog I suppose and do wraps with steak, chicken and veggies AND tacos with ground beef. What do you think? Agree lasagne is easier expat!!

I know creepydazy!

I think a big bowl of pasta, and fussy buggers could fill up on garlic bread and the popcorn later.

I would be glugging wine behind a door somewhere.

oxocube · 05/10/2006 10:04

OliveOil, mad? Absolutely. Esp as current favourite game is soldiers where they dress up in combat gear and tear around the house killing each other. But they'll have a great time

hot dogs, toad in the hole, how about a theme like mexican or balti or chinease

CountessDracula · 05/10/2006 10:04

How about a big shepherd's pie

oxocube · 05/10/2006 10:05

And there will be several bottles of chilled stuff in the fridge, don't worry

deffo lasagne and garlic bread

creepydazy · 05/10/2006 10:08

You really are mad Oxocube, you must have a massive house thats all I can say, cannot imagine for the life of me having ten boys running around my house. When DS has one friend around the noise is deafening.

oxocube · 05/10/2006 10:12

Not a massive house, creepy, and v small patio type garden BUT have the advantage of living pretty close to the school playground and plan to kick them all out for a couple of hours as they are all cricket and footie mad, so they can have teams! Am farming dd (8) off to a friend's for the night and ds2 (4) loves to play with the big boys. Its ds1's birthday 'party' so will tolerate the noise for 1 night! It'll be fun. Honest (blatant lie emoticon!!!)

GOOD LUCK is all I can think to say

SecondhandRose · 05/10/2006 10:18

Another vote for hot dogs, cheap and easy to do.

creepydazy · 05/10/2006 10:20

If you are not a gibbering wreck the next day post on here to let us know how it went

beetroot · 05/10/2006 10:21

I did this in June and NEVER again!

oxocube · 05/10/2006 10:21

Lay down some ground rules when they enter your house

oxocube · 05/10/2006 10:23

I don't want to know Beetie!! The worst thing is a few days after, I have ds2's party which is taking a dozen 4 and 5 year olds either bowling (his preference) or to soft play for 2 hours. And dd's birthday is end of October. At least I get it over with for another year!!

10 boys settling down to sleep at night - it just doesn't bear thinking about.

I bet the boys think you are a "dead cool Mum" though.

beetroot · 05/10/2006 10:24

can I jsut say the sleep over will be the worst thing.

Be prepared and don't take any crap.

And at midnight gag them

oxocube · 05/10/2006 10:25

They are all boys I know well who have stayed over quite often. Realise I am frantically seeking to justify my lunacy here! It will be fine
