Boys are all 10 or 11 yrs old and I'm fed up with making pizza!! Was thinking of big dish of pasta or lasagne and garlic bread with loads of ice-cream and popcorn for later but a bit dull. Any more inspired suggestions? A couple of fussy eaters amongst the crowd but you can't please everybody

Oh, like the Italian themed on Thombat. Could also be very naughty (for one night only) and do huge bowl of fries to go with as well as salad and garlic bread. That would satisfy the 2 fussy eaters. Think I might get those Mars or Twix ice-creams, though as it means no bowls to wash up. Was toying with the idea of plastic plates for dinner simply to save hassle but do you think this would be a little too, erm, common? DEFFO no coke and yes, Beetie, as few 'e's as possible!!

HA!! Survived the onslaught!! In the end, I asked a couple of the boys in advance what they would prefer for dinner and the overwhelming consensus was fajitas - chicken and beef- which went down brilliantly. Everyone was polite, lots of pleases and thank yous for dinner/for having us. Also did garlic bread and french fries (bad mother alert), baby toms and cucumber as well as all the mexican dips, cheese, guacamole etc. (wanted to fill them up so no one was hungry at midnight!!) The last few were still chatting noisily at 2 am and had a 'pretend' stern talking to.

They all have football today so can imagine some very tired boys running around the pitch. Thanks for all the suggestions. Pick up in 1 hour, then the clean up begins
