How can I make a salad more filling?

I like salad but it doesn't really fill me up much.

I can't eat cheese in any form so that's out. I've tried adding things like chicken, tuna, ham and sometimes boiled eggs which are nice but it's still not really hitting the spot.

Seeds maybe? Bread on the side? Just eat more of it? Grin

I have salad almost every day for lunch - love it. You can either eat more of it, which will fill you up, but i find a need a bit more carb energy, so I tend to just have a few carbs alongside. I usually have a couple of fruit ryvita, corn cakes (they're like rice cakes but nicer and just as healthy), or occasionally crispbreads. Things like cold rice or cous cous also work really well. :)

I had salad from the canteen at work, big spoonful of couscous, big spoonful of Greek salad with feta, chopped red cabbage, peas, grated carrot, chickpeas, tomatoes, cucumber and salad leaves on top. Yummy and subsidised! Keeps me going til I get home. I need carbs and protein in most my meals, a salad without both is a snack in my opinion!

pasta or noodles are good, also a lot of Spanish type food is good with salad

I am a salad queen! Love good heavy salads. I usually have boiled egg, avocado and bacon on in some fomm along with anything else I can find like blanched broccoli florets, green beans, etc. Capers and diced red onion ate an absolute must! I also sometimes do a hot panchetta, red onion and mushroom topping with a soft poached egg on top. Absolutely delicious. Love a good salad.

Thinking about salad made me go make one for lunch.

Base of lettuce, rocket, tom, cue and capers. Fried chopped bacon, red onion, asparagus and frozen peas in butter and garlic. Topped with poached egg. Mayo on the side.

How can I make a salad more filling?
