What would serve meatballs with (apart from pasta and tomato sauce)

HiccupHaddockHorrendous · 16/01/2014 07:27

I have a pack of meatballs for tea tonight but need inspiration for something to serve them with.

We had meatballs last week with pasta and sauce and had lasagne last night so would like to stay away from pasta/tomato things.

Any suggestions? I'm hoping for super easy ideas because I cba today!!

Pitta bread yogurt and cucumber?

ImATotJeSuisUneTot · 16/01/2014 07:29

Mexican style in a fajita wrap?

Spanish tapas style in a chorizo and tomato sauce with a flatbread?

Sliced in half and topping a pizza?

AmberLeaf · 16/01/2014 07:30

With rice and a nice salad/salsa.

catyloopylou · 16/01/2014 07:30

In a tagine with couscous or with a curry sauce over rice.

You could even skewer them and reform round a bamboo stick into a kofta?

Meow75 · 16/01/2014 07:32

We had them with onion & mushroom gravy made after sealing the meatballs in a sauté pan, potato wedges sprayed with oil and baked in the oven and steamed broccoli, cauliflower, carrots & baby sweet corn.

It was yum, and pretty healthy, tbf.

Mash, gravy and green beans- like meatloaf, yum!

DustyBaubles · 16/01/2014 07:46

Either with mashed potato and sauerkraut or shredded cabbage, or with rice and vegetables.

Or even just mashed potato with caramelised onions.

A spicy Asian-style broth with veg and noodles?

We do a version of patatas bravas as my DDs love going to our local tapas restaurant! Cubes of roasted potato with a chunky tomato sauce on top! (not very authentic veg on the side but I'm obsessive....!)

ZingSweetApple · 16/01/2014 18:08

chips & veg

HiccupHaddockHorrendous · 16/01/2014 19:46

We ended up with carrots, mash and gravy Smile

we always do meatballs in tomato sauce (DH has hint of chipotle) with crusty bread to dip in or in ciabatta rolls.

Pantah630 · 16/01/2014 23:09
