Does anyone actually eat anything *interesting* for breakfast?

Am sooooo bored of breakfast, to the point of not being arsed to eat it, thereby shortening my life by about a decade apparently.

Ideas? No cereal or toast allowed on this thread.

Kathy, nail on head. My absolute favourite.
(I'm sure we would get on v well in RL you know.)
(Says she, in her best non-weirdo voice.)

Cereal just doesn't do it for me plus is full of sugar or utterly unpalatable.

Gingerbear · 23/05/2006 15:48

scrambled eggs and smoked salmon
handful of oats/nuts/seeds mixed into a geek yoghurt with spoonful of honey
apple/banana/strawberry chopped up/ mixed with seeds/nuts

LucyCampCat · 23/05/2006 15:51

no nothing interesting here.

Gingerbear · 23/05/2006 15:52

french toast / eggy bread spread with marmite or lashings of ketchup

motherinferior · 23/05/2006 15:52

Frozen berries and sliced bananananana whizzed round in the microwave for a couple of minutes, with yogurt.

Pitta and hummus is nice too.

hunkermunker · 23/05/2006 16:09

I used to eat cold pizza from the night before when I was a schtudent.

Kathy1972 · 23/05/2006 16:11

Cold pizza good too.
There's never any left with dh around though.

Taramasalata on pitta bread.

snowleopard · 23/05/2006 16:13

Yoghurt (Yeo Valley Greek style, yummmmm) with fresh fruit, eg chopped-up pear, banana, peach or melon, or raspberries or blueberries if on special offer, plus a bit of honey.

Cheese on toast is toast but nice.

Kidstrack · 23/05/2006 16:40

Half Grapefriut and low fat yoghurt, bacon medalions and grilled mushrooms, pancakes and strawberries, smoothie containing: low fat yoghurt, banana, apple, kiwi, and a carrot

katierocket · 23/05/2006 16:41

We have pancakes, which are my favourite, every weekend. Other than that, porridge with blueberries is yum, I also quite like cheese and ham sandwiches a la H'european hotel stylee breakfast.

DH is the same as you though pruni - he hates breakfast (unless it involves bacon)

Kathy1972 · 23/05/2006 16:42

all on the same plate Kidstrack? Wink

Kidstrack · 23/05/2006 16:43

he he, you may try lol

MrsBadger · 23/05/2006 16:50

rice pudding
we gave in on the dual grounds that it's nearly cereal and nearly yoghurt - both quality allowable breakfast foods.

Used to be able to get great yogurts with grainy cereal bits in, but haven't seen these in years.

Pruni · 23/05/2006 16:55

Ooh some nice ideas, am inspired (and bloody hungry I have just noticed).
Best breakfast ever was in 5 star hotel somewhere in spain, a whole room just filled with table after table of whatever you fancied. Sweet/fruit/savoury/cooked/raw ham/fountains flowing with freshly squeezed fruit juices - it went on and on and on until lunchtime. I was in heaven. Somehow a bowl of shreddies doesn't hit the same spot...

I seem to have drifted into having Hot Chocolate for breakfast. I've convinced myself that it's incredibly continental though, rather than just plain lazy.

Pruni · 23/05/2006 17:09

But serenity - that must keep you going for all of ten minutes...
Unless you put bran in it?

Ooooh yes Pruni, we had a fab breakfast in a Spanish hotel. In fact, a lot of hotel breakfasts are really good (except in NZ). I also like the cheese & ham combo.

How about the doughnuts and hot chocolate thing they have in Spain. Mega unhealthy but great for a special treat.

Fresh fruit salad in the summer

Dried fruit compote and porridge in winter

Pancakes with strawberries, maple syrup and creme fraiche

Scrambled eggs & smoked salmon

Poached eggs with mushrooms

These days we only have the above a weekends now. The rest of the week it's just a bowl of shredded wheat.

serenity · 23/05/2006 17:27

Not really Pruni, I don't have time to have it until after the school run, so 9.30ish? We have lunch about 12.30 - that's not enough time to feel really hungry and tbh I'm not a morning person, can't even brush my teeth without feeling bleurgh.

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 23/05/2006 17:31

My all time fave breakfast has to be warm croissants with grilled bacon inside........ YUMMY!

Britney · 23/05/2006 17:37

Favourite "alternative" (not toast / cereal) at moment is banana chopped up and tossed in lemon juice & mixed spice, then grilled for about 4 mins. Then spread natural yoghurt on 2 dark rye ryvita and put banana on top. Is very delicious and sees me through to lunchtime no problem.
