We do a bulk shop, once a month, that comes to around £200, and then just as and when for fruit, veg, meat, etc, about £40 a week.

helsy · 18/03/2006 11:03

about 350 - 400 a month, family of four, includes nappies and usually some clothes (from Tesco) and other non-food stuff like mugs/towels/whatever. Trying really hard to get that down by a LOT.

freshstart · 18/03/2006 11:03

50 a week

Carmenere · 18/03/2006 11:05

We budget about £100 per week for groceries. There are 4 of us and that includes some wine. We shop once a week because I don't drive and we live on top of a hill far away from anything but a huge horrible Tesco. I hate shopping like that and as soon as we move I intend to shop daily.

granarybeck · 18/03/2006 20:26

Usually varies between 65 and 110 per week! Not v predictable either. think it actually depends how much time i've got, if i have to wizz round its cheap, if i've time to meander, it costs loads! I budget for around 350 per month.

niceglasses · 18/03/2006 20:28

I'd say over 100 and there are 5 of us and I'm topping up throughout the weeek. Should just get wages paid straight into Tesco.

Donbean · 18/03/2006 20:39

about £35 per week then once a month i spend about £70 because i need washing powder etc.
I am very strict and i meal plan and do tons of home cooking and freezing.
There is me dh and ds.

dooley1 · 18/03/2006 20:39

It's meant to be £50 a week. Today was £44, last week was £75!!

nikkie · 18/03/2006 21:15

I budget £35 a week for food and other spending (Me and 2 kids), usually spend £20 on food (Morrisons) , we mostly eat veggie, no wine, no nappies, biggest spend is probably washing powder!
Usually shop once or twice a week

starlover · 18/03/2006 21:17

i shop each week, online, with sainsburys. I also get a veg box from abel and cole.

I spend £25 a week from sainsburys and £14.80 from abel and cole.

that's for 2 adults and a one year old

Poppyshed · 18/03/2006 21:19

Usually averages between £70-£80 p/week, and that's for 2 of us and dd, and a dog, and includes nappies washing/cleaning stuff etc. We don't eat much processed stuff, but I still think it's too much. I do a big weekly shop at local Tesco's on a monday. It seems to have got dearer recently and I can't figure out why. I'm not buying clothes or tubs of Haagen Dazs or something. I suppose they've just ramped up prices on some essentials.

cod · 18/03/2006 21:20

AABOUT 360

cod · 18/03/2006 21:20

freshy 50 £ a week? wow

Gillian76 · 18/03/2006 21:26

About £80-90 per week for 5 of us.

Turquoise · 18/03/2006 21:28

About £50 a week sainsbury's online, then about £30-£40 fresh stuff etc - that's me and two children, one of whom is an 11 yo bottomless pit. So no nappies.

Bozza · 18/03/2006 21:29

£60 a week for 2 adults and 2 children. This is for an Asda shop with delivery (but usually get £10 off from hotukdeals) which usually comes to just over £50 then what's left is for any bits or maybe a takeaway once a month. This includes all booze and nappies for one child. I have this as a set budget and rarely go over it in a month.

Mum2OneAndOneMore · 18/03/2006 21:31

Hmmm differs depending on....

  1. What "big" things i have run out of !
  2. If i meal plan
  3. If i right a list AND stick to it Grin

Usually between £70 - £100 per week thats with 4 of us.

Mum2OneAndOneMore · 18/03/2006 21:34

Saying that the food, nappies, wipes & stuff probably come to between £50-£60 the rest is probably clothes as i just never seem to be able to get past them.... Grin

When i was shopping online before Dd was born my bill was not really over £50 so i know i can do it...

Aero · 18/03/2006 21:34

£50-£85pw depending on whether I buy nappies, wipes, washing powder, meat and wine. I do meal plan now and that helps keep the cost down.

fairyfly · 18/03/2006 21:35

40 pounds a week, two boys and i.

cece · 18/03/2006 21:44

Bozza

"This includes all booze and nappies for one child."

How much booze does your child get through in a week?

LOL Grin

Bozza · 18/03/2006 21:45

Well not that much but she causes me to crave quite a bit. Grin

Passionflower · 18/03/2006 22:18

More than anyone else has posted yet Blush must start economising.

I shop at least every other day, this is because DD3's pre-school is on site so I'm at the supermarket anyway dropping her off etc.

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 18/03/2006 22:24

We spend approx £110 once a month with sainsburys and then probably £20 a week on fresh stuff. (bread/milk/veg)

Do a butchers shop every 2 months of about £30.00

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 18/03/2006 22:25

oh and thats 2 adults, 20 month old and 20 week old. Includes formula, 2 sets of nappies, wipes etc etc etc
