Just wondering who much everybody else spent per week on food, nappies etc. and if You go shopping everyday or just once per week.

A week? Hmm, probably around £100, maybe a bit less - too much really, must get back to meal planning. There are 5 of us.

Do one main shop, a butchers shop and then top up bread, milk and fruit during the week.

Kaz33 · 18/03/2006 22:33

About £100+ per week for 4 of us includes nappies and chemist type things. DP works from home so all his lunches as well. Much to much really and am trying to cut back.

snowleopard · 18/03/2006 22:36

At least £100 a week for 2 adults, baby and cat. I'm always trying to bring it down; if it were left to DP it'd probably be £250 a week on Taste the Difference puddings, ready meals and posho real ale. I feel bad about it sometimes but on the other hand, we never go out!

snowleopard · 18/03/2006 22:37

Oh and that does tend to include supermarket baby clothes as well as food and nappies...

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 18/03/2006 23:15

about £50 a week, for 4 of us (one in nappies), that includes organic chicken and some extra 'booze'.

We go to supermarket at least twice a week.
Wish it was less but we need to buy bread, milk, fruit and veg more than once a week (we get through loads and I don't find eg grapes keep for a week) and work commitments mean the local veg shop is out. In any case there isn't one so it's Asda ahoy.
I would say we spend £80+ per week. Try to buy free-range meat/organic milk and not much procesed stuff. That's for 5 of us.

A colleague of mine claims to spend £20 as Asda each week Shock she showed me her shopping receipt and it was true! She never eats any fruit or veg tho and in fact as far as I could see eats very little, but her poor husband...

About 100 a week excluding wine

Hulababy · 19/03/2006 21:04

We spend about £75-85 a week online, including a couple of decent bottles of wine and a bit of beer. We tend to eat out at weekends, and will buy the odd bit in (fresh veg, bread) during the week. Milk and fruit juice comes from milk man. So for a week we spend £100 plus meals out. That is for me, DH and 3yo DD.

joelalie · 20/03/2006 12:55

Up to £120 a week for 5 of us and cat. We buy wine too, and nappies. That includes all household and cleaning stuff as well. Could easily be more but I'm trying to keep it under control ....

joelalie · 20/03/2006 12:56

PS...so glad that we aren't the only ones who spend this sort of amount. I've got friends who seem to live on air....well they must do as they spend about 30 a week..... Shock

hermykne · 20/03/2006 12:58

about 110/130 a week, for 2 adults and 2 babes.

shellybelly · 20/03/2006 13:39

aaahhh just spend 45 quid in M&S, however it was on decent meat/fish and loads of veg but we normally spend around 80 quid a week in Asda (U.S keyboard so I've not got a pound sign hence why i keep putting quid!) Grin

NomDePlume · 20/03/2006 13:41

nutcracker · 20/03/2006 13:42

jellyjelly · 20/03/2006 15:01

Since i broke my leg and have to go to tesco with dh budget has gone from about £20.00 from milk bread and loads of fruit and veg/essentials to about 70.00 this is on top of the big monthly shop which used to be about 200. Cant wait till i am up and running again and i can go to the markets again. Didnt think i would be so excited about going shopping.

williamsmummy · 22/03/2006 11:52

What are the ages of your children?
I found that now that I have two teenage children, I am cooking for four adult size meals and two children sized meals.
so over the years the food bill has really gone up.
150 per week

we are restricted with food allergies in family, as well as low salt diet ( for hubby)
food shopping takes ages, and its the one thing I hate every week.
