OTT

codulike · 16/03/2006 16:17

Why does cod have to behave like this and yet still receive adulation?

The down-side to mumsnet.

serenity · 16/03/2006 16:19

I must have the only children in the country (apart from pinotmum's) that have absolutely no reaction to any kind of additive or sweetener at all. That's not to say however that I go out my way to give them to them Smile

cod · 16/03/2006 16:19

so dont change your name then
i mean
i give my kids hightly setteend and additiev ridden food then they overact
welll DUR!

VeniVidiVickiQV · 16/03/2006 16:19

Why do people always have to change their name to cod bash?

sparklymieow · 16/03/2006 16:19

COD!! Shock
My Ds and DD1 are banned from fruit shoots and cola, as it makes them so so hyper. DD2 can tolarate them but she rarely has them. DS has water and milk, dd1 and dd2 has diluted juice and milk.

cod · 16/03/2006 16:20

ok a bit harsh but come on

alliebaba · 16/03/2006 16:20

i'd rather give ds a bottle of vodka

cod · 16/03/2006 16:20

if someoen posted that then youd all be on them

Mercy · 16/03/2006 16:22

Serenity, my dd is like that too. I think she's has had about 3 Fruit shoots in her whole life and I didn't notice any difference in her behaviour - maybe because she's a bit manic anyway!

LadyTophamHatt · 16/03/2006 16:22

codulike, we're all grown ups here so please tell us you real name.
why change your name to post?
I just dont get it!

cod · 16/03/2006 16:26

never ever agin
they didnt seem to sell mini milks in ffrance

alliebaba · 16/03/2006 16:27

it's cod-phobia! she's not afraid of saying what she thinks so why should other people be.. we can't all agree on everything!!! And it's not exactly personal on here, cos we don't know what each other look like.. BTW i look like charlize theron..

sparklymieow · 16/03/2006 16:27

ooooooooo I remember when MIL gave DS candy floss when he was 2... he was climbing the walls all night

alliebaba · 16/03/2006 16:27

sorry you're there.. referred to you as 'she'

Blu · 16/03/2006 16:28

Most people were posting that someone else has goiven their child a Fruit Shoot, or that after one bad experience, they are banned.
And given the 'healthy image' Robinson's work so hard to promote on the bottle (pictures of fruit, calling it 'fruit shoot', big letters saying 'no added sugar' you could easily fall for it during that hassled shopping trip where you didn't have time to read the microscopic-print ingredients on the back!

I bought one once for DS at a community event at which they were the only available drink - and the smell nearly knocked me dead when I opened the bottle!

LadyTophamHatt · 16/03/2006 16:29

Mine have had the once or twice, can't say i've noticed a real reaction as my kids are noisy and hypre all the time anyway BUT 9and here controversial for you) I don't give them Fruitshoots because they make me think "UUUgghhh CHAV!!!" whenever I see a kid drinking them.

GDG · 16/03/2006 16:29

I think cod is saying 'of course they cause a reaction' not 'they don't do any harm' - that post could have been read either way.

Banned in this house but gonig to SIL soon and they drink them. I think I'll make up a story that it makes them hyperactive Grin

GDG · 16/03/2006 16:30

Agree LTH - chavtastic!

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 16/03/2006 16:32

zippi - never noticed any difference here

cod · 16/03/2006 16:33

even if they fdont do any harmt hey are so sugary and crappy

colditz · 16/03/2006 16:33

Yes the first one ds had was in a chain pub where it was the only thing that didn't come in a glass - they didn't do plastic cups. I had seen loads of kids drinking them, so thought they couldn'#t be that bad. Wrong.

Agree about the smell, it is fusty and vile.

Blu · 16/03/2006 16:33

GDG - I think the issue in Cod's post was the 'you thickos' - but hopefully all laid to rest now, anyway, and she agreed it was a bit harsh. Smile

Blossomhill · 16/03/2006 16:33

I avoid as much as possible unless at a birthday party.

I give my children organic Calypso instead. Also they have Rocks Squash as it's the only squash not laden with cr*p.

serenity · 16/03/2006 16:35

Shall I be brave and say that the only time mine have fruit shoots is when they have a Happy Meal? Grin
