I am so going to try some of these! Had given up on my s c as toddler hates the veg and meat stews I do in it. Reckon I might be able to tempt even her with these!

OhNoMyFanjo · 14/06/2012 06:08

Another one but not really a recipe Blush

Pork loins
Can if Campbell's mushroom soup
A little water to make a sauce you like tge look of (remember their instructions are not for a slow cooker)
I also add some sliced mushrooms

Serve with mash and green veg yum

OhNoMyFanjo · 14/06/2012 06:09

Oh and can be done with chicken too.

littlemissnormal · 14/06/2012 06:48

This is a bit of a cheat but colemans do a sausage and bean slow cooker packet mix which is basically sausages, cannelloni beans, tomatoes and onions which is lovely.

somewherebecomingrain · 14/06/2012 09:14

that's what i like about slow cooker! it's not really recipes! its just ingredient combining! but it works! i found this recipe book on kindle called circle of friends slow cooker book and it has recipes like noodles plus soup powder plus mayo plus bottles of sauce plus frozen chicken balls etc etc. these are much better but you get my idea!

somewherebecomingrain · 14/06/2012 10:41

i mean all your suggestions are much better and i'm so trying the bbq pork

Horopu · 14/06/2012 10:47

My slow cooker is currently full of quartered, (peeled and decored) apples stewing.

TO whoever asked up thread the pork skin goes go soft when I do it, sometimes we just get rid of the skin it but often I do it in the slow cooker over night, leave it in the fridge (or freeze it) then whack the skin on a high heat with a sprinkle of salt/oil to crisp it up. I use belly of pork.

HipHopOpotomus · 14/06/2012 10:54

Loving these ideas.

I'm still a novice, but last night I made bolognaise sauce in the slow cooker. It's bloody brilliant as the mince separates into tiny bits rather than staying in those strange clumpy threads. I just use the usual recipe with less water.

I'll freeze some meals for DD2 (13 months) out of it and then spice up the rest for our dinner tonight.

SleepyDopeyGrumpy · 14/06/2012 19:01

Im trying the pork shoulder, coke and bbq sauce atm its been in slow cooker for dew hours except im doing it with Jack Daniels BBQ sauce :-D Going to turn it into pulled pork in the morning so fingers crossed it tastes as good as im hoping!

cobysstepmummy · 18/06/2012 16:27

The BBQ pork sounds amazing, so much so I'm digging out the slow cooker for tomorrow and that our evening meal sorted.

Going to try and use my slow cooker alot more as a very busy mummy to a 24wk old. Grin

Just found this thread and made Somewhere's chicken thing, it was great, thanks for the recipe!

flatmouse · 04/11/2014 14:12

Glad this zombie thread has been resurrected! Need ideas and there are some great ones here. Interestingly i saw a link on FB the other day for a lady who preps her slow cooker recipes in bulk (different marinated chicken with veg etc), and freezes. Sounded like a fab idea. Considering the slow cooker would be on for 8-10 hours, i'd be happy to try it from frozen.

DatsunCogs · 04/11/2014 17:42

I did the chicken recipe with frozen chicken for about 8 hours and it was definitely done after around 6, I will definitely be doing it that way again. No planning required, took it straight out of the freezer!

Quitelikely · 04/11/2014 17:47

More recipes please!

chloejaynemummy · 30/12/2014 16:00

I'm so making the pork and bbq sauce one tomarrow just cooking chicken casserole it's so cold here needed summit warmin for dinner when dh get a in x

CurlyWurlyCake · 30/12/2014 17:01

You can do jacket potatoes in the sc if you wrap them in foil.

I also do honey glazed carrots and parsnips on low for 4-6 hrs then finish them off in the oven.

AttitcusFinchIsMyFather · 31/12/2014 18:02

Beef brisket, sliced onion, small amount of rich beef stock. Can add carrots too if you wish. Makes the most amazing tender beef! If I am feeling even more indulgent, then add a dash of cream to the leftover stock, and some chopped parsley & pour of the sliced beef.

AttitcusFinchIsMyFather · 31/12/2014 18:03

Hunters Chicken, Wrap chicken breasts in bacon, place in the slow cooker then pour BBQ sauce over it all. Add grated cheese half an hour before serving.

AttitcusFinchIsMyFather · 31/12/2014 18:05

Cowboy stew. Use an unsmoked gammon (or a smoked one that has been soaked to get rid of the saltiness).Tin of beans, sliced onion, chopped mushrooms, touch of garlic & paprika. Diced potatoes and a tub of passata. Bung it all in. Shred the gammon at the end of the cooking, and add back to the stew.

CatsClaus · 31/12/2014 18:06

for pudding the Bill Granger Self Saucing Chocolate pud works very well...

I halved the recipe as only had a teeny baby slow cooker or a giant 6l one, but it did very well. I must try it again now I have the middle sized one :o
