I have got into a rut with a picky ds. I tend to just give him what I know he'll eat which is pretty limited. I have decided to finally bite the bullet and branch out - we eat together about 4 times a week but that means we too have to eat the limited things like roast, pasta with tomato sauce, macaroni cheese that the dictator will 'accept'.
so I need Ideas to start the ball rolling

DS is also very picky. Tonight we're having pizza - bought base with homemade 'special' tomato sauce (with a few added bonus veggies) and cheese. Fingers crossed.

Mama1980 · 30/03/2012 16:49

We are all having beet root risotto with goats cheese Smile

Hassled · 30/03/2012 16:49

Chinese Takeaway and I cannot wait.

AllthatshewantsisanotherBBaby · 30/03/2012 16:50

Ds 2.5 is having tuna pasta with sweetcorn and peppers

His fav is a curry or biriani though, he also likes fish pie, fishfingers are a fav..

supernannyisace · 30/03/2012 16:51

Fish - with cabbage and jacket potatoes ?? Bit of a strange combo -but it'll have to do. Grin
they will eat it!

FruitShootsAndHeaves · 30/03/2012 16:53

Fish and chips

but I fancy Chinese Takeaway now!

Smurfy1 · 30/03/2012 16:54

Homemade mash, peas, corn on the cob and flying scotsman, DSD version I made with cheese in middle instead of haggis

TitsalinaBumSquash · 30/03/2012 16:55

My kids have had a day at school packed with easter eggs and Fish and Chips for school dinners, they have both just sat down with a pot of hummus and carrot/cucumber/cheese sticks, red pepper 'circles' strips of pitta and a fruit salad for pudding.

yehudiwho · 30/03/2012 17:03

I have a list already and am thinking of a spreadsheet.

should say ds will be having a lentil and cheese burger (the only thing he likes from the heady days when he was small and ate everything...) Jacket potatoes and beans

DD and her two friends are having naan pizzas (cheese and tomato) served with salad, olives and chorizo. Fruit muffins or carrot cake for dessert.

Ordinarily DD would eat what we are having, Fridays are different here.

dontaskwhereIlive · 30/03/2012 17:07

I made lamb tagine and cous-cous, with greens and carrot sticks. They both ate exactly 2 carrot sticks.

Bugger 'em. Am sick to death of the same old same old!

NettoSuperstar · 30/03/2012 17:08

cauliflower pizza
Scroll down a bit.

Never made it before, not sure it'll work, or be edible, DD isn't impressed at the thought but I'm intrigued by it.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 30/03/2012 17:09

The boys are having roast chicken, new potatoes and some vegetables.

DH and I were going to have the same until Hassled mentioned chinese!!

tumbleweedblowing · 30/03/2012 17:10

Umm....Blush

As its Friday the end of the week when I really really CBA very very picky DS1 is having chicken dippers, waffles and beans. DS2 (8mo) has just polished off lemon chicken with sweetcorn.

We are having "KFC" or rather as close to KFC as Slimming World will allow; breaded chicken, chips (done in fry light), spicy beans, homemade coleslaw & corn on the cob. I may treat myself to several huge gin & tonics and a tub of that Ben & Jerrys core stuff I keep seeing in Waitrose a Cadbury light chocolate mousse later.

dontaskwhereIlive · 30/03/2012 17:11

That cauliflower pizza sounds fun NettoSuperstar. Could I just steam the cauli as we don't have a microwave?

Methe · 30/03/2012 17:13

The kids are going to my parents for the weekend so they are responsible for their nourishment.

Dh and I are havig Chinese food she he comes back from taking them.. Probably Singapore fried rice and crispy beef

BelinaTheChicken · 30/03/2012 17:17

Fish pie made with coconut milk as DS2 has a cow's milk protein allergy, DS1 is quite picky, but he is with the PIL tonight as I have a night shift and DH can't cope with both of them overnight as DS2 hates having bottles so is really hard to settle, so we didn't have to have picky toddler friendly food

Pascha · 30/03/2012 17:18

Chicken and leek pasta bake.

NettoSuperstar · 30/03/2012 17:21

I don't have a microwave either Dontask, I'm using the bamboo steamer I bought this week.
I will report back on how it went.

SquishyCinnamonSwirls · 30/03/2012 17:23

DD had prosciutto tortellini in a tomato and herb sauce.

Twinklebum · 30/03/2012 17:26

-McDonald's- gourmet fish coated in golden breadcrumbs served with a side of golden potatoes a la julienne seasoned with fresh sea salt! Grin

TheLastHappyHop · 30/03/2012 17:27

Have a couple of extra teenagers tonight, so just heated up some pizza and let them all help themselves.

Dh and I will have lentil curry with naan bread laterwhen he gets home.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 30/03/2012 17:27

Pascha - what sauce do you make for that bake, just plain white?
