I have got into a rut with a picky ds. I tend to just give him what I know he'll eat which is pretty limited. I have decided to finally bite the bullet and branch out - we eat together about 4 times a week but that means we too have to eat the limited things like roast, pasta with tomato sauce, macaroni cheese that the dictator will 'accept'.
so I need Ideas to start the ball rolling

Yes, used rice milk with cheese (as finally my son can cope with some cooked dairy. Hoo-bloody-ray) It was a quicky meal really, just cook the chicken and leek, shove some pasta on with some frozen peas, mix it all in the sauce when cooked with some peas and grill for a couple of minutes.

Twas quite nice actually.

CogitoErgoSometimes · 30/03/2012 17:45

Francagoestohollywood · 30/03/2012 18:00

we are all having pizza with ds's football team tonight.

ballstoit · 30/03/2012 18:04

We are having freezer pizza (as opposed to 'carry away' as the DC call it) and garlic bread, and a bowl of mini eggs to follow.

It is the end of a very long, stressful week which has seen the arrival of premature twin nephews and the completing of my last but one degree assignment and I really cba to prepare anything more exciting.

Veg, fruit and homemade meals will reappear next week...particularly as I'll be catering for DBro and SIL while the twins are in neonatal.

mrsnesbit · 30/03/2012 18:06

meat n tatty pie, mash carrots & gravy, they cleared their plates!

Longtalljosie · 30/03/2012 18:06

Pasta with mushrooms, leeks, peas, tuna and philadelphia. It was a student standby and it's bloody lovely.

Rikalaily · 30/03/2012 18:09

Have just sent dp out for fresh white bread and to the chippy. We are all going to slob out in the livingroom and watch a film and have chip butties and prawn crackers for dinner, haven't done it in donkeys years! Can't wait Grin

DD2 just ate a full roast dinner (not a usual Friday night thing but it was left over from last night with the addition of freshly made yorkie, stuffing and gravy)

I have no idea what DD1 ate because she's at a friends

I'm being taken out to dinner :o

Shinyshoes1 · 30/03/2012 18:11

same as DP, No seperate meals here

Steak pie, mashed potatoes, kale , peas and gravy

mathanxiety · 30/03/2012 18:21

We're not having it tonight, but meatloaf or baked meatballs with mashed potatoes have always gone down well.

Other things they like are tortellini stuffed with either meat or cheese, and also ravioli, and stuffed Polish style cabbage leaves with a simple tomato sauce. They also like empanadas stuffed with various fillings.

badtasteflump · 30/03/2012 18:26

We're all having curry. Lots of pots of different ones on the table to dig into and everyone gets rice & naans to go with it. The dcs tend to stick to chicken korma, so there's a huge pot of that.

Not homemade, btw Blush

insanityscratching · 30/03/2012 18:33

I've been out for lunch with dh so kids have had whatever they wanted so omelette, pizza, dippy egg were their choices today.

Sirzy · 30/03/2012 18:38

Ds had pasta and tomato sauce, I had kfc. A CBA cooking night tonight!

LordLurkin · 30/03/2012 18:41

We are also having steak pie here but with roast spuds, carrots and cabbage. I am fortunate to have kids who will still eat pretty much anything that on offer with great enthusiasm.

DS1 is fussy too but better than he used to be. Today they had pizza, sweet potato chips and corn on the cob.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 30/03/2012 19:07
